This cannot be allowed to go through. Move the thing if necessary. Stupid country to have it in anyway. All we'll have is 4 weeks of sick footballers and terror threats. Stadiums will be getting evacuated every 5 minutes. No-one can honestly say I'm wrong.

Time for the fa to man up. Tell them England won't be competing. Hopefully, other countries will follow. Time FIFA had their wing clipped.
By:
I'm fairly confident that England won't be competing
By:
I hope the FA send a youth team if true.
By:
sponsors will be delighted.
You have to laugh though, all those back handers to get the tournament and now look. |
By:
I hope there's a boycott, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it happened. When Qatar bid for the WC it was based on a summer tournament with air-conditioned stadiums, if they can't deliver that then they should be stripped of the right to hold it. FIFA are increasingly looking like a complete joke, how can a country bid for the WC without giving a complete schedule of how and when the matches were to be played? Thankfully there's plenty of time to put things right
By:
could be a few dodgy results in qualifying as the vast majority of the pre-tournie favorites "strangely" get knocked out leaving the Faroe Islands and San Marino to battle it out for the trophy

the germans have already complained to fifa when this news broke earlier in the week with the whole of European national leagues adversely effected.....
By:
Was a stupid idea anyway to host it there, its warm enough without doing anything over there never mind playing football.
Those with the hand outs must be sh!tting bricks now that there's a good chance it wont go ahead and they will be exposed for taking back handers. |
By:
Start the season 2 weeks earlier, and end it 3 weeks later. Insert a 5 week break during the winter. "Problem" solved.
By:
the germans have already said they are unable to interrupt their domestic fixtures and to be honest why should premiership clubs contesting the league, champions league and possibly domestic cups have to shoe horn additional matches in a desert climate for those fat feckers to trouser a few euros...
By:
they're going to have to start the games late imo, what's wrong with 1 am and 2 am kick-offs? it's not as if Qatar is this huge economic super-power, 1 million is the population ffs.
By:
It's like eight years into the future. I'm sure it's possible to reschedule even for the Germans if they want to.
By:
I'd rather see the competition abandoned than have it during the winter. Sets a really bad precedent if they move it. Just shows FIFA up for being corrupt by deciding to have it there in the first place, was a ridiculous decision and now they've realised that and are panicking.
By:
Can´t they have enclosed super air conditioning stadiums instead.
By:
why dont we leave fifa and start our own series up?
the world series of football, like the americans do with most sports. we would then me official world champions if its just us in it. |
By:
hope Israel qualify, that will cause a problem. there's no way a wc can be held in such a backward country. as above, its time we break away .England might have problems but at least we are tolerant etc. we could hold a wc no problem.
By:
it's not as if Qatar is this huge economic super-power
Oh dear someone hasn't been keeping track of current events. |
By:
Are they still planning to make clouds to keep everyone a bit cooler ?
By:
I guess I'm not as naive as others to have a country of 4k sq mile down as an economic super power only because they sit on vast reserves of oil.
By:
summer football is a great idea for UK
By:
Let them have it during the winter. We'll just send an amateur England team. Job done.
By:
Why would it be so heinous if the European football season where to pause for 6-8 weeks between December and January and the 2023 season started in September instead?
They have 8years to make the arrangements and there should be no problem with holding the world cup in our winter as there are many countries in the Southern hemisphere like in Africa, South America where that would be the ideal time to hold the world cup. Football is an international sport and the world cup should be held in different countries, cultures and continents and it is not unreasonable for the Middle East to host it once in a blue moon. |

What will do on Boxing Day?
By:
youre missing the post boris..the world shouldnt have to adapt to suit the corrupt fifa

#point not post ffs

SCOM
The whole world of big business and politics is deeply corrupt. FIFA is no exception so just have to deal with it!!! ![]() The middle east/muslim world has never hosted the world cup in almost 100years and Qatar happens to be the richest of them all. So they are able to satisfy most of the conditions required by FIFA since they have deep pockets. |
By:
Mr Angry
I am pretty sure your mother in-law will be delighted to have your company on Boxing Day!!! You may also watch the Qatar world cup games and reruns on TV. |
By:
they,re talking about having it in october-november, thats when champs lge group games are going on. when will they play them????? they should get organised and tell the corrupt bunch of twats to shove it.
By:
There was a vote,
Qatar put in a proposal saying they would hoast the event in June/July. If they want to change the situation now then should have another vote & all the bribes paid to FIFA should be repaid to Qatar. Will be one of the worst World cups for World wide supporters. Still it would be fun to see Stephen Fry, Peter Thatchel having some protest. |
By:
none of the fans will get a pint. they dont allow alcohol. thats why we,re infidels.
By:
@Loui
Alcohol is legal in Qatar even though drinking it in public places is not!!! They can always change their laws to accommodate the world cup fans as itis usually done. @Mexico Qatar is not the one claiming they cannot host it in June/July butother observers are. They would have no problemspending billionsjust for airconditioning around the stadium areas. Why did the likes of Fry/Tatchellnot protest when England wasorganising the Euro96 when we had the homophobic Section28 in full mode in Britain? |
