I know that we are short on football action since the majority of football leagues has finished, but in-play betting on an Icelandic fourth division game? Really? Really?? do they think that punters are desperate enough to bet on something so obscure???
Home team 2-0 up at half-time, lost their opening match 4-1, whilst the visitors got hammered 6-0 at home in their first match, quite fancy a few more in the second half.... I guess they've got me
Futbol24.com cover some obscure matches which I just unselect. But of the eight matches that are currently offered in-play on Betfair, Futbol24.com ain't covering any of them.

Not a fix, just the odds are wrong. Anyone with local knowledge mops up on these.
Hardly obscure consider the 3rd division u19 reserve league was also in play tonight.

Why would anyone lay thousands at those odds then? Although I'm starting to feel I missed the chance to make a small profit though :) But couldn't find any meaningful info on this.

Yeah, but I can't compete with more than 30k that was in the market at the time :) In any case I always feel suspicious about strange odds, and I caught some blatant fixes already by looking at market movements, but never actually toke the opportunity.

Its easy money for anyone who knows the local game. Don't think the games are fixed, it's just odds at stupid prices that causes the cash.
With so low a league you often see a lot of cash lost by doing that.

I'm not saying this one is a fix, was just remembering about weird games, like on when there was tons of money to lay at 3-3 at very low odds, and it was 3-3 ft. But if bots are so "stupid" is a shame betfair doesn't offer low division portuguese football in play then :)

But yeah, I can relate with that "its easy money for anyone who knows the local game", even in the first Portuguese division you can catch some pretty stupid odds. I remember sporting this season for example, for most of it it was a layers paradise, always very low odds.

There was an u19 reserve game on a few months ago that had 8 v 11. The team with 11 were over 3's to win the game. I think they won 1-4 in the end.
There's a few leagues in eastern Europe where bookies don't have a clue.

no, 1st and 2nd division only. But even in the first division they get it wrong many times. Sporting low odds almost all season was a good example, but I can get you more. Think about Porto for example, one defeat in 3 seasons, yet you get to lay braga vs porto at 4 or less, or even benfica for that matter. Same goes with paços de ferreira, did a great season, only 4 defeats, 2 vs porto, 2 vs benfica, and you could always get get prices on them.

Mostly. Portuguese league is where I get to recover what I lost in the other leagues :) After the season starts and you get an idea of how things are going you eventually start to find some great bets. Another great example, Porto is usually a very pragmatic team, if 2 goals are enough to win the game, then two goals it is, but more than often you can buy under 3.5 above evens.

Betting will always be about whether you have more information/intelligence/nous than the market. The more obscure the league, the more likely you are to be able to find an edge.
But also, regarding Sporting, bookies price up on name and how much money is likely to be thrown at that name, rather than necessarily the actual outcome. The most obvious example is the likes of England in the UK, who will always be bet into a shorter price by patriotic money.
