if you add the community shields and world club cups I think that puts Man U in the lead.

It was a shame that in his early days Manchester United were banned from European competitions along with all English clubs.

Can anybody remember why they were banned?

That's not actually the case Mexico is it? Think Fergie's first title was the FA Cup in 1990 and they went on to win the Cup Winners Cup a year later, presumably after the ban was lifted.

However, like most on the thread, it's a pretty piss poor attempt at points scoring from the Liverpool fans.

Second best team in Liverpool. As close to the bottom of the league than the top. No Europe next season. 23 years since they won the league.

UEFA Cup of course.

Although other clubs were hit harder by the ban.

Was it because they had the biggest bunch of scumbag hooligans that terrorised people at home & abroad for many, many years ?

so if chelsea, millwall, west ham, man utd were as successful as liverpool in that time and been away in europe all the time do you think the same thing would not have happened?
get a grip, football hooliganism was rife then.
think about what your saying.

The Liverpool hooligans were responsible for the deaths at Heysel. The ban however was brought about by the continued acts of violence, of which Manchester United supporters were some of the worst offenders, by English supporters.

i didn't say it wasn't the fault of the liverpool fans.  what i am saying is they shouldn't be singled out as the only hooligans at the time.
you really should look at what happened and what caused the ban before spouting off.

The OP is right and he is forgetting an important fact....Liverpool have 20 league titles as they won two league championships during WWII....whilst ManU players skulked off to fight some meaningless war..the Liverpool players had the bravery to stay behind and keep playing football
