It is if you go next you get to follow him get the benefits of the planning and prep he has done with the squad. If someone else comes in and fails then you have a go its a much tougher job. Once you get knocked off top spot it can be hard to get it back just ask the scousers.

Has the price falling got anything to do with Howard Webb showing a red card to a Man Utd player yesterday? SAF knows one of his best players can't be relied on for next season and may choose to step down.

Strange price move. It can only be informed money that at least started the move, yet I really can't see Moyes as next manager.
Might be people betting on scenarios to do with SAF's hip op ruling him out for a little longer, but as I say,it's not mug money that has suddenly decided to start bettting on a market like this.

I get where you are coming from lefty but the amounts aren't massive that said everything that goes up seems to be getting taken.
It could be informed money or it may just be his price came in as pep and jose went out.
Fergie seems certain he will go on next year.
I would be amazed if utd went for Moyes.

David Moyes could be announced as Manchester United manager after bookies report major gamble
Bookmakers have slashed the odds of David Moyes becoming the next Manchester United manager, after a flood of overnight bets.
Moyes was as big as 7/2 to be named as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor, but after a major gamble from punters last night, his odds were slashed to 1/2, making him favourite, ahead of Jose Mourinho.
Moyes is highly thought of by Sir Alex, who is believed to have a say in who takes over at Old Trafford, as he almost made him his assistant, before appointing former England boss Steve McClaren instead.
The Everton manager will be out of contract at Goodison Park soon, and he has yet to commit to a new deal, with reports earlier this year linking him with a move to the Bundesliga, if Everton did not get Champions League football next season.
We know now of course that Everton are out of the race to get into the top four, which may signal the end of Moyes’ reign, however Sir Alex Ferguson is not set to retire for another two seasons.
So will Moyes leave Everton in search of Champions League football experience, before taking over the most sought after job in football? Possibly.
It would be a surprise move if Moyes was appointed the next manager of United because of his lack of Champions League pedigree, with many other names in the hat who have plenty of European experience behind them.
However if there is one thing we have learned down the years in football, is that Bookmakers don’t usually get things like this wrong, so we should take the move very seriously indeed.

An opportune time to go. Squad the weakest it's been in years, lucky to win a title, light years behind the big clubs of Europe (including City and Chelsea).
So he can leave on a high, then wash his hands of the shambles of a squad he's left behind.

Lucky to win the title! Win their last two matches and this is United's best points haul since the treble season. And only bettered on two occasions in the Premier League.

Cant understand the surprise.Moyes has been the obvious choice for the past couple of years The shortening now may be indicating that SAF may step down sooner than he says.Afterall when he does go it will be a sudden announcement

i cant see alex leaving, IF there is some real inside information (but i doubt it) ut would have to moyes moving to man utd as number 2 on the proviso he takes over in say 2 years. would he go for that? i know i wouldnt. i'd stay where i am and say come ask me when he retires. he could hang around for another 5 years knowing fergie. big risk to take. but im not david moyes. so who knows.

If Moyes then Wazza defo on his bike out of OT Rooney's Moyes relationship even worse than with Fergus
Got to say what with all this TV money coming in must be worth any EPL side taking a punt on the white pele

I read somewhere that Moyes will be offered the assistant maanger's job, with a view to taking over when Ferguson goes.
I think it was on an Irish website, and though you can't believe everything you read online, Fergie does have a habit of freshening up his assistants.

akaBirdman 06 May 13 17:04 Best move would be Moyes to go as assistant for a year then take over after next season ...
Ive heard some nonsense suggestions in my time but this takes the biscuit
