Who's going down then?

i was looking at this yesterday and the thing i noticed is that wigan have 5 games in 15 days, 2 league games either side of the cup final. they play arsenal on the tuesday after the cup final, they did well there last year but can't see them getting anything this year. I would love to see them stay up but i think it will be a bridge to far and the cup final will also disrupt them, win or lose it IMO

I think Wigan will get away with it again. They have three winnable games left and they have been there and produced more than once. I think the loser of the Norwich/Villa game will go down. Personally I'd love one of the bigger teams to go down.

Have to say I am very worried about the survival of my Canaries. :(

Chris (Mr Negative) Hughton has transformed a team who always looked likely to score last season into a team that has managed an average of only 2 goals every 3 games since the turn of the year. In two of the last three away games we haven't managed a single shot on target.

If Wigan can manage to win their last two home games against Swansea and Aston Villa (who should be safe by then) then we are in real danger of slipping through the trapdoor.

Paul Lambert knows most of the Norwich players inside-out and Villa absolutely tore Norwich apart on their last visit to Carrow Road in the League Cup earlier this season, winning 4-1. His players are on a high after their 6 goal mauling of Sunderland and Lambert is likely to have too much tactical awareness for Chris Hughton. Let's face it, my cat has more tactical awareness than Hughton. So a defeat for Norwich is likely on Saturday along with a few more goals to add to an already poor goal difference.

Last game of the season against Manchester City is likely to be hide behind the sofa time for Norwich fans. We have conceded an average of 5 goals per game against them over the past two seasons and I don't have any great confidence that record will improve, especially if the nerves are jangling on that last day and we need a result.

So, I feel that our survival chances are likely to depend on getting something out of the game at home against unpredictable West Brom. Hughton, as usual, is likely to set his team up to try and nick a point in a 0-0 draw, but with the likes of Lukaku waiting to pounce, that is a dangerous game to play.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic on a bright, sunny morning, but the negativity that exudes from Chris Hughton appears to have spread, first to his players and now to the supporters.

I agree entirely with you Mr.Budgiebird, norwich are looking very much like the side to take third relegation spot, no attacking strengths and central pairing looks as though they will  both be out of action due to injuries. Mr Houghton only has plan A to defend and no plan B so i think Villa will tear us apart. West Brom looks like the team we might get something off, but there again we`ve got no striking force so i think  the Brummies might get a 0-1 win. Then Man City away, say no more.I hope i`m wrong as i am Norwich through and through. So good luck to them they`ll need it

I would like to agree with you Roker, but the way I see it is that anything Wigan get from the game with West Brom it is a bonus for them. If Norwich fail to get anything from THEIR game with West Brom, then I fear Wigan will only have to win their remaining two home games to nudge ahead of us.

draw with villa and we're safe, as villa can't throw their game with wigan to pull other clubs in

draw not a decent result for villa unless they can get something against chelsea

Seeing as Wigan are 2/5 to go down and its 7/1 bar that statement is not too enlightening.
