I must be a glutton for punishment. I will continue to do these previews as I know a few genuine people appreciate them. I could do without the abuse from the idiots mind. Anyway, as posted on several threads earlier in the week to get on Newell's early as Velez were resting players for this game. Turns out these two teams have now be drawn against each other to play in the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores. The draw was made earlier today. The 1st leg will take place in Rosario (Newell's are from Rosario) on Thursday. With Velez (the current league champions) effectively out of contention for this season's crown they have more or less given up in the league. And will now fully focus on the Libertadores. Well they were also concentrating on the Copa Argentina until Wednesday's nightmare penalty kicks defeat to Olimpio. This is what makes Argie Ball insane in the extreme. Velez played in the Copa Argentina 1300km away from the capital on Wednesday night, just two days before facing Newell's in the league!! Madness. Anyway Velez took their strongest team to the cup game and failed miserably against a lower league side who rested players. I'm writing this before the teams are fully confirmed but expect Velez's side to be very similar to the one that lost away to Colon last week. As I have said many times Velez have a huge squad and their reserves are no mugs. But Newell's are a very good side. Velez will probably play a mixture of reserve and youth players. Newell's are only two points behind league leaders Lanus so their coach has stated that he will go with his best team as he wants to keep their title hopes alive. The only problem is, at the time of writing, the best player in Argentina Scocco is a major doubt. Newell's said they will give him every chance to be fit for this game and will make a very late decision. So keep an eye out for the team news. Newell's have an excellent away record in the league and that bodes well for this game. Newell's are still alive in all three competitions and they will be determined to go top of the league before Lanus play on Monday. I'm posting this early as have to go out and won't be back until kick off. If Scocco is fit then Newell's still represent value (in case u missed the bigger prices earlier in the week). I'm convinced Newell's won;t lose this game. If Scocco plays they will win, if it doesn't make it could be a draw. But all in all Newell's, the best away side in Argentina, should be way too good for Velez's reserves.
Tricky, i'd like to say back Newells but an early goal for V could make things difficult, Velez arn't exactly the king of goals in matches...... lay Velez probably the safer option of the two (obviously)...... but having said that with whats jut happened to Velez i'd maybe edge towards Newell if your feeling adventerous!
Speaking of which, the odds on over 6.5.....I mean justified just used to looking at Iceland Cup games so to see 80+ is unusua for me!

So pretty much everyone is thinking goals in this tonight?
Thanks also Clay, I had a look at your selections the other night (Velez) ect and whilst they wern't the best (it's hard to a pick a winner all the time) it's always good to see the write up like the one above so you get a good idea for the game!

@Super, you have missed the boat mate, it was either back Newells or lay Valez, no value now, forget goals in Argy games 90% of the time. too unpredictable mate, usually 1-0 0-1 is your lot, then a 4-3 pops up lol to make you look a right mug

Racing haven't won two in a row this year yet. Every time they win they throw in a stinker. They hammered San Lorenzo last week but only the week before they were terrible against River. Colon are flying with 3 wins in a row but are not a great side. I will go with a small lay of Racing as they are inconsistent. They have to win tonight to keep tabs on NOBs and Lanus at the top. Hopefully Clon will catch them on the break
