i was listening to the radio, talksport, and one of the journalist was saying something about ethnic minorities are going to be shortlisted for positions as standard so each ethnic group is fairly represented - basically its the age old debate about the lack of black and asian managers, mostly black managers, anyway

-white = 85.3%
-black = 5.2%
92 professional clubs in england
white managers = 87 (94.6%)
black managers = 5 (5.4%)
So going by that, both black and white people are over represented in managerial positions,
what's a more relevant point is - is that nobody ever actually talks about how many black managers actually apply for positions compared to how many white managers apply for jobs - what is the ratio?
How many of the black managers hold a UEFA A licence + Pro licence that are applying for these jobs compared to the number of white candidates applying?
How much experience do the black managers have in coaching when applying for managerial positions? compared to the white managers applying?
Has anyone actually proved that the white managers that has been appointed have less managerial credentials then the black mangers that applied for the jobs.?
Do you also know the number of white candidates who have also had their applications turned down?
What im saying is its boring and lazy from people who just say "there arent enough black managers" - the questions above need to be answered first before you say something as simple as that, its a stupid idea to shortlist someone for a job just because of there ethnic background - that actually discriminates against the white manger considering that there are going to be alot more white managers overlooked now just because they are white in a predominately white country, and why would anyone go to an interview knowing the only reason they are short-listed is simply because of their skin tone, what a stupid idea and pure PC nonsense IMO

So englands population is 5.2% black and black managers are 5 of 92 pro clubs (5.4). It sounds about right.
I would say that based on this there is no lack of black managers. There is lack of asian managers, though! |

should make no different what ethnic they are ...the best man or woman should get the job and it up to the club to decide not the pc do-gooders

Two points:
Black peoples representation within the wider community is less relevant than black players because that is where the vast majority of managers come from and they form a much bigger percentage of the players than 5%. On the other hand there have been quite a number of black managers but none that I can think of has made the breakthrough into being classed as an outstanding manager yet. If and when that happens that will probably have a significant impact. |

Like the Rooney Rule in the NFL, this ensures that minority coaches, in this instance Black coaches are given consideration for managerial role in the football league.
I don't see anything wrong with that tbh. |

The american public voted for a black president, so did the south africans, thats two top jobs in countries were racism has been seen at its strongest
That in itself should show that the colour of your skin ultimately has no bar to the hieghts you can reach, however Im sure there are plenty who face many hurdles on the way |

It is of no interest to football league chairman what the colour of skin the man in charge is if he brings success.
Are the people that spout this rubbish seriously suggesting an owner of a club would chose to finish mid table with an average white manager as opposed to winning the league with a successful black manager? Paul Ince and John Barnes are part of the same group of players such as Roy Keane and Bryan Robson who were great leaders on the pitch but they cant replicate that off the field of play. It has nothing to do with the colour of their skin, they are just all poor managers. What is the percentage of White British owned football league clubs these days anyway? |

i think the black footballers compare the number of black people playing in our leagues as a percentage with the number of managers and see a discrepancy..., but how many of the current managers in premier league made their names playing in our leagues ? .. the white players should be shouting just as loud !!! |
