I've lost quite a bit chasing the fix that wasn't there in this competition. Some are more blatant than others.

I agree there. Last week's wasn't a blatant fix. It looked like just one person with a large amount of money burning a hole. This market is a sustained effort.

Missed penalty in that Maziya game and now in the 5th minute of extra time.

Match officials for Tampines AFC Cup game arrested

by Liga Singapura on APRIL 3, 2013 in AFC CUP


Lebanese match officials Ali Sabbagh, Ali Eid and Abdallah Taleb who were supposed to officiate the Asian Confederation Cup (AFC) match between Tampines Rovers and Indian League side East Bengal FC  at Jalan Besar Stadium on Wednesday evening have been taken into custody by the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau (CPIB) for investigations.

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) confirmed on the above matter. It is understood that officers from the CPIB turned up at the hotel where the match officials were residing and they were summoned back for investigations. The match officials were here since Tuesday and they were also present during yesterday’s pre-match briefing.

It is not clear on whether the match officials were arrested because of suspicion of fixing tonight’s match, or a previous incident.

According to sources, a new set of match officials from Malaysia and Thailand have been brought in to officiate tonight’s Group H match – one which Tampines Rovers must win, to stand a chance of progression into the next round.

The trio will be replaced by Mahapab Chaiya (Thailand), Sabri Mat Daud and Azman Ismail (Both from Malaysia)
