While you're waiting, you might as well learn a thing or two:

- - - - -
According to National Environment Agency (NEA), Singapore has one of the highest rate of lightning activity in the world. Lying near the Equator, the weather is hot and humid almost all year round. Conditions are favourable for the development of lightning producing thunderstorm clouds. An average of 171 thunderstorm days (days when thunder is heard) are recorded annually in Singapore.

How often does lightning strike in Singapore?
An average of 171 thunderstorm days (days when thunder is heard) are recorded annually in Singapore.

Is there a lightning 'season' in Singapore?
The monthly distribution of the number of thunder days shows a peak in April/May and November, with an average of 20 thunder days and a low of 4 to 6 days in the months of January and February respectively.

What time of the day does lightning most frequently occur in Singapore?
Thunderstorm tend to occur between 2 pm and 6 pm in the afternoon for all months of the year as diurnal heating and convection play an important role in thunderstorm development here.

Some more trivia for you to enjoy.

- - - - -
10. The Singapore Flyer is the tallest observation wheel on the planet.
Sure, at the end of the day, it is just a Ferris wheel but one, at 165 m, that tops the likes of the London Eye, Star of Nanjing, Suzhou Ferris Wheel and Southern Star of Melbourne.

9. Singapore has two buildings that rank in the top 40 in the world in total floor space.
Structural records seem to be a particular passion for the city-state of late. Just witness the gargantuan Marina Bay Sands resort (#15) or Terminal 3 (#39) at what is probably the best airport in the world, Singapore Changi.

8. The Civil Aviation Authority limits the height of buildings in Singapore.
Ever wonder why Singapore has not gone the way of Dubai, Shanghai or Hong Kong over the last decade? Where, in other words, are the supertall skyscrapers? Well, as it turns out, Changi Airport’s proximity to the city precludes the manufacture of a Burj Khalifa, World Financial Centre or International Commerce Centre.

7. 100% of the country is urban.
Granted, this is easier to achieve when your country is smaller than the average state park but it remains a singular statistic nonetheless. A visit to Kampong Buangkok, the last bona fide village left in Singapore, truly underscores the hyper pace of change in the city-state over the last few decades.

6. Singapore ranks second in population density.
Only Monaco has more people per square kilometre. With 7,315/km2, chances are good that you will rub shoulders with a stranger or two on Orchard Road.

5. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve has a wider variety of trees than all of North America.
Not too shabby for a primary rainforest reserve half the size of Central Park.

4. The Port of Singapore is big.
How big? Well, how about number one in total cargo tonnage and shipments made. Incredibly, the Port of Singapore tranships a fifth of the global supply of cargo containers and half of the annual supply of crude oil. Wow.

3. Singapore has four official languages.
Yes, English is ubiquitous and the language of commerce, government and academia but Mandarin Chinese, Malay and Tamil also have official status.

2. Singapore knows growth spurts.
Literally. Thanks to land reclamation efforts over the years, the city-state is 25% bigger than it was at independence.

1. If you’re male, you have to serve.
Singapore has a robust military for such a wee city-state, with over 420,000 active and reserve personnel. Conscription adjures that all male citizens and second-generation permanent residents enroll at the age of 18.

You never know. Maybe some day this obscure trivia will come in handy as you're trying to impress your (girl)friends. Silly

So how's this one been lookin' so far then? I see Home United have disappointed (here it comes) at home so far this season, while Tampines Rovers did beat Geylang International soundly on their visit there (5 - 0), but only put one past Warriors FC (SG) last week. Can't be much then, this one?

By:

When: 29 Mar 13 15:07
Yeah, the stats are decent for the home side. Think I'll give it 'til the 60th minute and then have a bet, maybe. They look to be something of a second-half side, if their last two games are anything to go by. Judging by the results, Tampines appear to be the better team, though. Probably just as much chance of them scoring instead.
By:
underline
When: 29 Mar 13 15:14
that's why i'm worried. the stats show that the home side is much better today, but i don't think they're able to score against Tampines, and if the away side is in poor form today, this could end up in a 0-0
