Is it time they were in their own pre-qualifing group, and top one or two get in to the proper qualifing groups for World Cup,?.. 5-0's, 6-0's 7-0's etc. getting beyond a joke now.

A joke, San Marino were trying to run the clock down on Friday night when they were 8 down ffs. What good is that to anyone?

True, but do we have to suffer watching the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker hoofing the ball around Wembley, San Siro, Allianze Arenas for 90 mins..I actually watched an hour of the nil-nil Rangers / Stirling Albion dross today. Absolute Torture.  Scared

plus if you put them into there own group, the top two will come into the main qualifier's and get butchered yet again anyway..

Then you need to go around the world and take all the minnow countries out of there groups and do the same? as it's not only in Europe it happens

Did Malta and Lichtenstein not hold Portugal in the last 18 months?
I'm sure Faroes game Scotland and Italy a scare.
San Marino does seem to be the only one not improving at all.

No, some of us like making lots of free cash off these sort of teams. We also like to have a week's break from club football. For those of us that try to make money regularly off punting it's like a week's holiday, so shut up.

SAN MARINO are an exception to the rest of the european minnows...at least the rest do pick up the odd point or even victory here and there...

but SAN MARINO are just a complete waste of time...

Actually, other continents already do this.

In Asia, the worst teams compete in the first round, the middling teams come in for the 2nd round, and the five top seeded teams (Japan, S Korea, Australia, N Korea, Bahrain) get a bye to the 3rd round.

In Africa, the top 28 ranked teams get a bye to the 2nd round and the other teams have playoffs for the remaining places.

In CONCACAF the worst 10 teams play in the first round, most of the other teams join in the 2nd round, and the top 6 ranked teams (USA, Mexico, Honduras, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Cuba) get a bye to the third round.

In OFC (Oceania) the worst 4 teams (Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, American Samoa) play a round robin and the winner joins the other seven teams in Round Two.

CONMEBOL (South America) is the only other federation that doesn't have any sort of pre-qualifying.  But then, there are no real minnow in CONMEBOL, in fact all its teams have played in World Cups in my lifetime with the exception of Venezuela, although they are improving (currently ranked 5th in the 2014 qualification).

So really, UEFA stands out as the only federation which puts minnow teams straight into final qualification with multiple games against the big boys.  When you are interrupting the biggest leagues in the world for a fortnight to watch a bunch of part-timers thrashed 8-0, I agree this does seem somewhat baffling.

The old use San Marino to beat up Luxembourg and the Faroes tactic.

If you don't like it don't watch it. If you did watch it you'd know that some of these teams are quite decent.

No reason why it cant be like the CONCACAF, San Mario etc in the 1st knockout round, 2nd round teams like Norn Ireland, Scotland, Estonia etc get a chance to play the bigger nations. Its about time  to weed out the weak, should have been set up years ago
