Some of us like fruitcake! On a serious note his TV series are generally excellent but I don't touch the nonsense he writes for the Guardian et al.

It was more about architecture really but it was interesting to see the clubs. As per normal with JM, it's best watched with a dictionary to hand then you get to find out what 'neo-brutalism' (etc, etc)is!!

Young Boys Bern story (I promise this is 100% true!!):

It's long been remarked as ironic that Young Boys play in the Wankdorf Stadium.  On a similar point, they were playing Spurs a couple of years ago and a Channel Five commentator (can't remember who) said: "Spurs should win this. Young Boys very rarely keep clean sheets."

Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town etc. Kaizer Chiefs is valid though, and incidentally where the British band get their name from.

Port Vale is an abbreviation of the previous name Burslem Port Vale, which was named after the town, and the Port Vale, I think, is a reference to the pub in which the club was founded. Or something like that.
