Totally standard form from both men, yet again Fergie can ramp up a controversial incident to mask an average performance from his team and a complete failure to react tactically to going down to ten men.
United were still 1-0 up at home with half an hour to go against a team that were not playing well at  all, instead of reorganising and reacting to the introduction of Modric he's running around ranting at anyone he can find or giving it the ra-ra to the subdued fans, its never his fault.

Every football club is the same. Don't think anyone is in a position to take the moral high ground and look down their noses at United, Fergie et al. It's a sad fact of football these days.

for some reason this got me thinking about Wenger. Even with all the stick he gets he fronts up for the press, which is part of his job. understandable to be pissed but bad form form fergie

Do some of you guys actually type out your posts eagerly before the match? I can picture you salivating at the prospect of the loss so you can throw down 500 words on the evil SAF and the corrupt officials/players.

Ref changed the game , until then united nullified the threat of madrid and looked dangerous going forward and even jose admitted best side lost

The card was a hard one , no player should be flying about with boot that high but was no intent to injure so it was pretty harsh but can be seen as red tho i doubt most refs would give one

As for fergie he was seething , the mans a winner and the things that make him a winner also make him unable to be rational after a defeat , so im not surprised he didnt come out

tho i think poster is right he should have reacted quicker in making united more solid before modric came on

A good team in a poor English League at the moment, out at the group stage last season, even beaten at home by the mighty Cluj this campaign, red card or not would of come nowhere close to winning this seasons Champions league!

We already know what Fergus of Seethesville is all about. BAd loer, and a bad winner.

Can't remember Busby, Stein, Shankly, Paisley ever being the epitomy of an over aged brat.

Vile man, vile club, vile fans.

Not much more can be said really as it's all par for the course.

''Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was too "distraught" to face the media after their Champions League exit against Real Madrid at Old Trafford.

Ferguson was visibly enraged after Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir sent off Nani for a high challenge on Real's Alvaro Arbeloa after 56 minutes with United leading through Sergio Ramos's own goal.

United assistant manager Mike Phelan replaced Ferguson at the post-match media conference and said: "It's a distraught dressing room and a distraught manager. That's why I am sitting here now.
"I don't think the manager is in any fit state to talk to the referee about the decision. It speaks volumes that I am sitting here now not the manager of this fantastic football club."

What? They put another Cuneyt in charge of a Utd game, and his names not Howard Webb.

never a red the lad was watching the ball at all times he wouldnt of seen the incoming player,if he was sent of for having his foot too high, surely over head kicked goals shouldnt stand as the must be dangerous.that red got my bookings bet up,but man utd were very unfortunate.

Very harsh decision but once the referee has made it, I'm not sure what the histrionics are about. Referee not about to change his mind was he? Maybe Fergie thought that a rant and his players intimidating the referee might encourage him to 'even things up'.

Hardly a role model and Ferdinand's actions were the disgraceful response of a spoilt child. If you feel sadness for anyone, feel it for the volunteer officials in kids and local football this weekend who will probably now have to deal with a higher incidence of similar nonsense.
