There is no reasonable argument you can give for not starting Rooney. There is even less of a reasonable argument for picking Giggs.

No surprise really to see Rooney and Kagawa on the bench yet cleverley, nanai and giggs starting.
Fergie has proved for 2 seasons now he hasnt got a clue what he is doing in the big games. I must admit I am surprised to see Giggs on from the start, but I can understand why. Giggs is on for his guile, his experience, and his ability to play a calm composed pass through a tight defence. Nani and Wellbeck are on for their pace. Rooney has been dropped because he lacks pace and drops too deep, and his link up play with RVP hasn´t been as effective as it should be imo.
If after an hour it isn´t working Rooney can always come on for Giggs, maybe when RM are not so quick. |

It's not much the dropping of Rooney I don't understand but the inclusion of Nani is baffling. Barely trusted all season and apparently on his way out and yet he gets picked for the biggest game of the season. Great shame Valencia isn't in better form.
