Never seen a thread for Hull fans - surely there must be a few of us here?

Anyway, 2nd in the Championship and at Bolton today. Current price is 2/1 which seems very big to me.

Just got Boyd on loan so he'll probably be on the bench today. 3 wins from 3 with Gedo scoring in each one.

Any thoughts for today's game?

City v Birmingham today. Faye & McShane are said to be fit again.

Good news is that Marlon King (yes him), is out. Always posing a threat up front so that's a definite plus.

Current odds are Hull 1.76, Birmingham at 5.6, draw 3.85

Probably about right  think. Hopefully we'll be ready for the fight and to make up for the terrible blip last week.

Going for 2-0 and 2-1 myself.  Any thoughts?

Hull City v Birmingham City: team news

Abdoulaye Faye and Paul McShane both returned to full training this week to bolster Hull City's defensive options ahead of this afternoon’s clash with Birmingham City.

Faye has been out for the past four weeks with a calf injury sustained at Millwall, while McShane has not featured since collecting a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Charlton a fortnight ago.

Both defenders would be available if necessary but the availability of James Chester, Jack Hobbs and Alex Bruce may persuade Steve Bruce to give the returning pair additional time to recover.

Bruce has plenty of options available as he targets a return to winning ways following last weekend’s 4-1 loss at Bolton Wanderers.

George Boyd, who made his debut as a second-half substitute at the Reebok Stadium, is being considered for a start and that will place captain Robert Koren under pressure in the advanced midfield role.

Bruce received mixed news from the treatment room this week.

Although Sone Aluko will play no further part in the season due to Achilles surgery, Matty Fryatt is now just 10 days away from resuming full training.

The forward has not played for seven months but could be fit again to star during the final straight of the season in April.

Birmingham City boss Lee Clark will include new recruit Shane Ferguson in his squad for today’s trip to the KC Stadium.

Ferguson is a versatile left-sided player, signed from Newcastle United on a one-month loan on Thursday, and a place on the bench may be his best hope after going two months without a competitive run-out.

An injury doubt hangs over left-back Mitchell Hancox but Paul Robinson appears the more likely to deputise.

Birmingham have injury concerns elsewhere in their relegation-threatened squad and will again be without former Hull City striker Marlon King.

The Blues’ top goalscorer has been struggling with a knee injury of late and will not be considered after missing training all week.

Clark’s major dilemma will be how to contend with City’s wing-back formation.

Although a 4-4-2 shape brought success at Peterborough last weekend, the Birmingham boss may choose to pack his midfield in a 4-5-1 formation in an attempt to stifle the Tigers’ threat from wide.

Full-backs Stephen Carr and David Murphy, influential figures in their play-off finish last season, are both ruled out for the season with knee injuries, while Keith Fahey also remains out of the equation.

Hull City confirm Aluko's season is over

HULL CITY boss Steve Bruce has resigned himself to being without leading goalscorer Sone Aluko for the remainder of the season.

Aluko visited a second specialist in London yesterday in an attempt to finally clear up an ongoing Achilles injury that has already ruled him out for seven weeks.

The scan results have deemed surgery is now unavoidable and Bruce confirmed this afternoon that Aluko will play no further part in the Tigers' promotion push.

Although the extent of the operation is still to be decided, the 24-year-old will face either a two-month or six-month lay-off.

"It's one of these complicated Achilles injuries where there's a difference of opinion between two surgeons, two of the best people in Europe," said Bruce.

"We'll decide what route we'll go down over the next few days but it's fair to say to supporters that we're not going to see Aluko again this season. That is a tragedy for him and a tragedy for us."

Aluko was the star of City's season up until injury first struck in late November, scoring eight goals after his free transfer from Glasgow Rangers.

His focus will now turn to the 2013-14 season but a six-month rehabilitation will see him struggling to be fit for the start of the campaign.

Report 666_v March 5, 2013 7:10 PM GMT
STEVE Bruce has promised that his Hull City side will travel to Crystal Palace tonight unwilling to target anything less than victory over their Championship promotion rivals.

Fourth plays host to second in a mouth-watering clash at Selhurst Park this evening as the Tigers bid to tighten their grip on an automatic promotion place.

Only a win would guarantee City remain second, but the size of the task facing Bruce's men will be huge.

Not since losing to Watford on the opening day of the season have Palace lost at home in the Championship and a fourth straight win at Selhurst Park will move them up to within a point of City tonight.

But Bruce is unfazed by the challenge and insists his in-form Tigers will arrive in the capital with eyes only on a victory of their own.

"I think supporters know me by now, I've not changed for anyone this season," said Bruce, buoyed by City's 5-2 win over Birmingham.

"No doubt about it, we'll be going down there to take them on and looking to win the game. Why should we change?

"It's not in our interests to change the way we go about it or try to hold on for a point.

"We know they've been a very strong side at home this season but that won't change how we go about it. We'll go there and have a go."

A full programme of Championship fixtures promises another big night in the promotion race and City will be aiming to hold on to second spot after they reclaimed it in style at the weekend.

The significance of the game is not lost on Bruce and he said: "There's still a long way to go but we all know it could be a big game for us.

"If we can go down there and beat them then we're looking at a lead of seven points with 10 games to go.

"I'm not saying that's enough but if we were to win five of our last 10 games, they'd probably have to win eight to stand a chance.

"That's a great opportunity for us but I'm sure they'll be targeting a win as well to get within a point of us. It's one of those games that could be very big for the winner."

City's preparations for tonight's game were exemplary as they ransacked Birmingham on Saturday to record a fourth win in five games and, in the process, banished memories of a 4-1 loss at Bolton seven days earlier.

Bruce has already turned his attentions to another challenge and wants to ensure City remain in the top two when the international break arrives after facing Nottingham Forest in 11 days.

"Everyone is buzzing after a win like that but there's also an understanding there's still a quarter of the season still to play.

"They've given themselves a wonderful chance of doing something special together this season, but that was just the start of a big fortnight. We set the challenge of being in the top two by the time the international break comes around and that's still our aim."

20/1 to beat Chelski. Really? Obviously we are underdogs but 20/1?

Release the safety and let the roller coaster commence.

Not expected to come close to winning against the top 4 so 2-0 isn't a bad result for the first game
