Liverpool owners John W Henry and Tom Werner are considering offering Kenny Dalglish a role at the club, just eight months after sacking him as manager.
Dalglish factfile

    Born: 4 March 1951, Glasgow
Playing career: Celtic (1969-77), Liverpool (1977-90), Scotland (1977-90)
    Managerial career: Liverpool (1985-91), Blackburn (1991-95), Newcastle (1997-98), Celtic (2000), Liverpool (2011-12)

See Kenny Dalglish's Anfield career in pictures

The 61-year-old, who was dismissed last May, has not yet been contacted by the Americans who are discussing offering Dalglish an ambassadorial role.

Dalglish has been back to Anfield on two occasions since his sacking, but did not speak to the owners.

Current manager Brendan Rodgers is understood to be open to the idea.

Were Dalglish to be offered a return, he would most likely resume the role of club ambassador he held from 2009 until he replaced Roy Hodgson as manager in 2011. Henry's Fenway Sports Group (FSG), do not see the Scot's possible return as likely to be a destabilising influence on the new regime.

i think he's the missing piece of the jigsaw

I may be totally wrong, but is this a way to ease Rodgers sideways/down/out?

It is patently clear to most, that he was the wrong choice, but how to get him out. These guys are obviously thinking about it and this might be the first move in that direction. Cheaper than throwing him out and presumably not counter to his contract, they bring in Kenny who will make Rodgers look/feel like such a lemon, that eventually he'll walk of his own accord, owing to a feeling of reduced control, which he very clearly needs.

Interesting times at Anfield again.

it could be the exact opposite. maybe they are bringing him back to make rodgers look good.

Shaky you're dealing with an alleged Liverpool fan who has a major hard on for Kenny and is fuming that he was sacked even though he spunked a kings ransom, coupled with the fact that he posts day in day out taking the piss of Rodgers even though again he's meant to be  a supporter, just a heads up for you like.

KK should never have got the job in the first place....or rather been kept on as he was supposed to steady the ship after the hodgeson fiasco.

the yanks forgot to take his cv into account or rather the back end of it.

im not a liverpool fan...

but the board have the right man in rogers, provided they give him the right amount of time, which i think they will

To be fair Liverpool have been struggling for an ambassador since Terry from Brookside got sent down.
Report hitmanhearn January 10, 2013 8:12 PM GMT
Rodgers is doing a fine job.The board will be more than happy with him.

Wouldn't that make him a role model Crisp?

Perhaps he could offer some valuable input regarding transfers Crazy

50m for Carroll and Suarez. Carroll now worth roughly 15m ( if Stirridge is 12m )and Suarez is worth roughly 35m. Thats a break even in my book , hardly spunking a kings ransom imo.

Barry to spring Terry

If it wasn't for King Kenny attracting Suarez, Liverpool would be bottom of the table under Rodgers Crazy

I know im in the minority and yes,i know Kenny is a legend for everything he's done for the club on and off the pitch......but when are we going to stop looking to the past as a club?

It's holding us back,imo.

If he was at Man Ure he would be on the board of Directors ( Bobby Charlton ) and have either a Statue of him made or a Stand called after him. Dalglish deserves that for his immediate post Hillsborough work, never mind bringing the club it's first silverware and wembley finals in 7 years etc. etc.
Report cob316 January 10, 2013 11:24 PM GMT
Sticky, It was I who used the Kings Ransom term about Kenny, don't get me wrong I would have been on board with him getting another season as manager, but it is what it is, Rodgers is here now, and this charlatan muppet uses Kenny to take swipes at the current manager which there is no need for.

Dalglish is the only rock of sense around the club, Ayres to me is a spoofer and seems to have the ear of Henry.
Report cob316 January 10, 2013 11:37 PM GMT
Something bugs me about Ayres alright, he seems to be a bit of a mug!

Seeing as Charlatan hates BR because of 'Being Liverpool' I'll use the same reasoning for Ayres the pillock was driving round on a Harley in all the gear, looked a plonker!
Report stickyvicky January 10, 2013 11:47 PM GMT
Saw that, jeez. I hope BR is a success of course, but to dis Dalglish is totally classless.
Report stickyvicky January 10, 2013 11:49 PM GMT
I mean for the club to discard Dalglish that is, sorry
