"Manchester City have returned 900 unsold tickets of the 2,000 allocation for Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Emirates.
The champions were expected to sell out but it appears travelling supporters have been put off by the £62 Arsenal are charging each fan."
Now i expect plenty on here (most of whom don't go to games anyway) will now be laughing at City for not selling out but seriously that is an absolute joke.
£62 to watch a game of football that is live on tv anyway.

I've never seen anything like it. £62 would perhaps just about be acceptable for a home fan on the half way line if you were playing Barca or Real in the CL.
But for an away fan it's an absolute joke. |

the mugs - that's us by the way - ought to be refusing to buy a lot more things. The prices of all of them - if their in the luxury/entertainment sector - would fall if we did.

I thought United charging West Ham fans £45 for the cup replay (when their fans were charged £20 at Upton Park) was bad but that is absolutely ridiculous. City should've made a stand and done a complete boycott and sent the lot back.
And so should the other big clubs as i assume Arsenal charge that for other category A games? |

It may be steep but it's still usually impossible to get a beer or food at half time...the very people who moan about prices are often the ones who will go out before half time and piss away up to a tenner on food and drink

I know what you are saying biscuit, and of course you are right.
But for Utd, Liverpool, they would sell the away end 5 times over at these prices and that has set a dangerous precedent. The amount of agencies and corporates paying £100 / £150 + for these type of games is staggering. |

Yes but I mean more and more corporates are buying tickets for the away end. Instead of paying daft money for a meal at the ground and going for the clubs hospitality option, they will book a nice restaurant in London then go in the away end, and all that will have cost a fraction of the price.

Financial Fair Play should ensure clubs do not rip off fans as well ,do not suppose Arsenal will sign up to that .

Easy to criticise other clubs business model and revenue streams when your club is bankrolled by an Arab sugar daddy.
Supply and demand, if Arsenal can't flog sufficient tickets at £62 they'll have to review their prices in future. |

About 20 years ago I was charged £20 to stand on a grass bank, in the p1ssing rain, at some sh1t-box in West London called Stamford Bridge - that is what you call a joke.

I used to be a Silver member at Arsenal, before that I was a Junior gunner.
Used to go to about 10-15 games per season for 19 years (I am almost 24), but that number dropped significantly over the last 3 years because all the Silver membership grants you is priority on certain tickets in certain areas, you still have to play the full price for tickets, which depending on which category the opposition/competition falls under then you will pay anything from £20 (which is reasonable but mainly for League Cup/ Category C games) upwards to £80 (which is for champs league games/Category A games) Prices have gone up and up every year and the Arsenal board/Manager care about is making profit year on year, they don't care about the fans and most certainly don't care about the team. I haven't been to a game this year. |

£62 seems like a fair price to watch 2 of the biggest and most entertaining teams in the country imo

West Ham would have sold 6k+ tickets for the replay at OT. But at £45 most are boycotting the game.
What a wonderful opportunity for an old fashioned cup replay with massive away support. Neither Man U nor West Ham give a damn about the away support. No protest has been made to OT by WHU. It's disgusting. RIP the FA Cup. |

we wont get into wife, kids ,family etc,250 for a family of 4 throw in a ton for petrol and ton spends for food ,drink,programme etc for the day,
and thats a nice family day out for around 5oo quid, |

The £62 charged to the Citeh fans is the same as the homes fans pay. I am sure that according to Premiership rules the home team have to charge the away team the same as the home team fans. Anyway I remember when Man U mullered us 8-2 at their dump. The next day I got an email asking me to renew my membership. You can imagine my reply. Walcott wants £90k a week for what? Only last year he was considered a one trick pony now he is supposedly the second coming of King Henry.
