Ok, so here it's you who is disingenuous, by adding the word 'sports'. The original post merely said 'betting website'.

So, I admit that maybe not a lot of women bet on sports - although that is debatable, as quite a few women will bet on horses at the races, so depends on whether you call horse racing a sport.But maybe not a lot of women bet on other sports because they're not interested in sports, mostly. But women can and do engage in other forms of gambling.

i agree and of course horse racing is a sport and the purest form of sports betting

I worked in a bookies for a bit when I finished studying and there was very few women that bet. The ones that did mostly bet on numbers betting and on the grand national.

In general women don't bet on sports but if they gamble it's more likely to be on things like the national lottery and in casinos.

There's also the thing that women perhaps won't put their bets through a high street bookie, due to the reputation of betting shops, or maybe due to not wanting to be seen to frequent bookies. But, like we said, most women are less interested in sports, so they're less likely to gamble on sports - although I do know a couple of women who do.

Still, there are women out there who do. And I can't help thinking that if these forum had a less "laddish" atmosphere, women would participate more.

But maybe you lads wouldn't want that.

I started a thread on this a couple of years ago.   About 0.5% of Betfair punters are female.

women tend to do more bingo,lottery and national once a year .


very sensible imo as you get more of a run for your money.


males tend top waste more on fruit machines and badly priced odds in bookies ,which does tend to support the argument that the bottom 50% of the female population isn't as stupid as the bottom 50% male total

lottery is only a quid though and many folk just buy the one card  - so the odds hardly matter in that instance .
besides, no one expects to win
