According to Globo esporte the game was stopped early because the away side were down to 6 men but the result has been allowed to stand at 2-2.

From what I can it's up to the discretion of the relevant local football body, it's not a FIFA rule.
So maybe cunningplan is an expert on brazilian second division football OR he just typed a random made up "fact".

I'd guess that because it was already in the 93rd minute, the game was level and the result meant nothing to either side or their league position plus it being the final game of the season too that it'll be allowed to stand at 2-2.
