13 freely available to back last matched at 5.2 before suspension. How Betfair get away with it is beyond. Tens of thousands matched from 13 down to 5.2

One way of avoiding hoovering is not to leave money in a market at prices which won't get matched unless you don't want them to do.

thats why they have the delay so long,no need for that length of time for a bet to be matched,make sure mere mortals can't get on,no other sport with that length of time for a bet to be matched,so why football ?

Hoovering is where someone gets to bet having seen the goal, but before the market suspends. So some guy has stuck 10k on Barca @10 and he has already seen the goal.

It completely destroys in play trading on betfair because it means that it is not safe for unmatched bets to be left up. If it happens too much the market will dry up. Its the big traders who lose out.

You might not want to do it yourself but if nobody does it, then there is no in play market.

Must be sickening Darlo. Have to say I dont see it happen that much, perhaps 1 in 100 matches, but thats still too many. Betfair should be able to retrospectively cancel any bets placed in the couple of seconds before they suspended.

there should be no time delay on any sport,it should be just the same whether its in running or not,hit the back or lay button & bets either matched or not,no waiting time for bets to be matched.

I've seen it several times. I've had it regularly happen to me which is why I'll take money out if I doubt it'll get matched. Though it happens far too much mostly on dodgy matches, but every Champions League I've traded so far, I've known the goal has gone in at least three seconds before the market is suspended. That's not enough for me to get matched, but there'll be others who can get matched.

if so there would be no money to back inplay. to demonstrate this take a look at the golf markets where theres no suspend, and so no money to match at a sensible price IP. is that what you want?

golf markets have a time delay to get bets matched once it goes in running.

worked hard to take a couple of hundred off the horses an blown it in 4 mins layin barca at 3s on 89 mins trying to take an extra 65! no complaints ! trying to be greedy !

I know a guy who lives literally next door to Aberdeen's stadium Pittodrie. He's made quite bit on in-play betting on their matches based upon crowd cheers for goals that he can hear from his flat. Once they were playing on a Friday night at home to Hibs I think, it was on Sky, and he said the delay between the live match and it appearing on the screen was about 10 seconds. Aberdeen scored and were still over evens on here. Suffice to say he piled in and then layed off once the market adapted to the scoreline.

Its surprising how incompetent betfair are at sorting it out. They are lucky to have the number of in play punters they do.

I put up a lay bet for £55 @1.11, and this was at least 20 minutes before the late goal. Why have Betfair voided this? Any ideas. Nobody would be backing this AFTER the late goal. I won my money fairly, surely??
