Probably Braintree Utd winning 1-0 last year when I needed them to draw for 5 draws and £1100.

Think it was when Real Mallorca were the only team to let me down in an eightfold that paid over a grand from about £10. They were playing at home against relegation fodder and were beaten 1-0 in an abject performance. I read later on that there were dodgy betting patterns on the match.

i remember waiting on newcastle to win for an £2.5k return on a £20 acc years ago. Then Shearer misses a late penalty.  Prick.

was in the pub a few years back watching the results come in. Had a large bet running and they conceded a last second equaliser. Just at that moment one of my mates started whooping and cheering. It turned out the player who scored was in his f***ing fantasy football team. biggest seethe i have ever had before or since.

Had a ten quid bet on, returned over a grand, 88th minute equaliser ruined it. I was gutted of course, but took solace in the fact that they were big odds and I'd had a late goal or two in my favour anyway.

A couple of weeks later I had a similiar bet on. Walsall scored in the 76th m,inute away to D&G, who were getting spanked left right and centre in the league. D&G pulled it back with a 25 yard wonder goal a few minutes later. I'd only lost 20 quid or so over the two bets, but I'll never forget that crushing disappointment the second time the bet fell through.

Never dream.

Had barca to score a goal against sevilla in 2011 (1 year ago). Messi missed a 93 min penalty. cost me a grand there.
Barca to score a goal until the 80th min against granada.. They scored on 87 and 93 mins.
Manchester United vs Galatasary over 1.5.. goal in the 7th min.. Nani missed a pen 1-0.

Had a massive early season bet on mixed football and racing which included the winner of the Lincoln at 16/1, part of it was Spurs to win the F.A cup, must have been the only neutral wanting them to beat Coventry that year Cry

yes I feel for you - but has to be said these were terrible, horrible bets to make in the first place, because so often they DON'T come in. Suicide betting, as so many of us told you on the match thread at the time!

you risk fortunes to make peanuts - i risk peanuts to make fortunes. Heres one that went wrong from 2 weeks ago and had me seething. League Cup, done a five-fold, 3 aways , a draw and Bradford odds on at home to beat Burton - 4 inspired selections let down by the 'strongest' part of the betSad .  0-2 after 20 mins. They drew 2-2 9and prob won in ET but i couldn't bearto look)

We did.  Then drew Wigan away next round, which made me SEEEEEETHE.  Although I doubt that their fans were delighted either.

As long as it's money that you can afford to lose, no approach is better than the other.
Report desperatemunter October 2, 2012 1:58 PM BST
yes, it is cheap money i can afford to lose. i know about good odds and bad odds and where accas fit into that : I just love doing them. For fun.
So they did go on to winLaughlmfao and pmsl
Report desperatemunter October 2, 2012 2:01 PM BST
and they don't always lose, far far from it. And with odds of 30, 40 , 50 or more if one a month comes in I'm doing ok.
Report desperatemunter October 2, 2012 2:04 PM BST
i'll do a bunch of 2£ accas and some laying off towards the end if i've got a winning position. Very basic betting - fall flat on my face when i try the clever stuff.
Report debaser1878 October 2, 2012 2:14 PM BST

Northampton Town drawing 0-0 with Basingstoke in the FA cup about 15 years ago deprived me of a mini life changer.

Almost as bad was the league cup final later the same season when I was waiting on Chelsea to beat M'boro for a similar amount. It ended 0-0 in 90 mins and Chelsea scored right at the start of ET and went on to win 2-0.

Not my favourite season!

WBA about 20 years ago in the League Cup, they were playing some 4th Division club and I needed them for a very very big 12 fold acca

Many years ago I used to have £5 on every Monday night game on sky being 2-2 (16-1 then!!). I was skint one week and only had £1 to spare and decided to do 3-3 instead. Went into the local WH and then decided I would have the £1 on a horse to try and raise the usual £5, it lost.

That nights game finished 3-3 (Est Ham v someone), took me weeks to get over it!!
