Thats sadly what heppens when you give silly money to someone with a brain the size of a pea.
What a waste indeed. |

What a depressing story. Modern day footballers think they've made it when they're 16.

I remember thinking what a talent he was at the time. Sad that it's ended up like this, but perhaps the club (& others for that matter) ought to offer some sort of proper support to young players. It would help the young players & protect their investment.

By:
he was a real good player for that 1 season or so but that injury cost him... if he had stayed fit I don't think the above tale would have happened and he'd be in that England squad

"the midfielder has endured a cruel run of injuries since then, but there are other reasons why he has not started a league game for City in almost 4 years".The reason is simple and has nothing to do with turning up for a photo with a beard.English clubs buy hundreds of established foreign stars.Dont say if a young English player is good enough he will play. Managers cannot wait, they need instant success, lose 5 games and they are out of a job.It shows how the British public have been brainwashed by the liberal elite that a post on Michael Johnson dosn`t even mention this.

He'll probably fritter away all the money he gets from that five-year contract. Otherwise, he could of become a millionaire for absolutely nothing and spent the rest of his life living the highlife. Living the dream!

By:
disagree with lfc. The reason why clubs look overseas is because for some reason their young players are a lot more mature than ours.
|
|
By:
yes maverick im sure Ballotelli is a lot more mature than Johnson
|
|
By:
Its all in his head, still time to turn it around if he wants and at least play at in the Prem again. Was an interesting prospect at the time. Lfc, while you have a case, your point is for a different argument. The reason he has not gotten a chance is clearly his lack of drive. He made a few pound as a kid, got the praise and believed his own hype

It's easy to sit here and judge but if you gave a lot of people on this forum 20k+ per week at the age of 18 I wonder how many would be sensible and how many would fritter it away. Sadly most youngsters are only interested in the money that being a footballer brings. I can't remember who it was but a current pro said the other week that the question he most gets asked by young kids is not about football, his career or anything about being a pro...........but instead what car he drives

Manchester City footballer Michael Johnson is set to appear in court after he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving twice.
The injury-plagued 24-year-old has been charged with two separate offences following two alleged incidents. In the first, at 11.50pm on February 24, Johnson was stopped in a black Mercedes close to Blackfriars viaduct on Bridgewater Way in Manchester city centre by officers on patrol. He was breathalysed and arrested on suspicion of drink driving. While on bail for that offence, Johnson was arrested again after an early-hours smash in Trafford. Police were called to Grangethorpe Road, in Urmston, at 3.40am on May 31 after a Mercedes CLS 350 hit a parked BMW X5. He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken to Trafford General Hospital. Johnson was bailed pending the results of a blood test and subsequently charged. He is due before Manchester Magistrates Court on September 25 where it is thought both cases may be joined. Johnson, who has long been touted as one of City’s brightest academy graduates, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle while his alcohol level was above the legal limit and driving while unfit through drink in connection with the first incident and driving while his alcohol was above the legal limit with the second. He made his first-team debut in 2006 before going on to represent England under-19s. Many Blues, including then manager Sven Goran Eriksson, believed he would go on to represent England and in 2009 he signed a five-year contract with the club. But he has been plagued by injuries with a ruptured cruciate ligament in training prompting a long spell on the sidelines. Johnson, who is from Urmston, battled back to full fitness in time for the 2010-11 season. He began last season on loan at Leicester but made just seven appearances for the east Midlands outfit before coming back to City for the latter part of the campaign. Johnson's last appearance for City came in a 5-1 Carling Cup win over Scunthorpe in 2009. |

So due in court tomorrow on 2 counts of drink driving,No doubt he'll get away with just a slap on the wrist as every other footballer seems to.

His agent and Sven must be "friends"

Unfortunately he isnt the only one
I remember Billy Kenny playing for Everton, absolutely ran a merseyside derby aged 18/19 I think he only played about a dozen games after that, injury and severe cocaine addiction kicked in and he was retired by the time he was 22 Keith Gillespie was another who although he still played, had off field problems that meant he never reached the heights he could have. |

A fat Michael Johnson papped in a local takeaway.
[ This image is no longer available. ] http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4747047/Michael-Johnson-speaks-about-Manchester-City-release.html Johnson reveals his City exit hell MICHAEL JOHNSON has spoken for the first time about the mental health problems which triggered his Manchester City downfall. The midfielder was tipped to be a future England captain after bursting on to the Premier League scene in 2006. But a catalogue of injuries and questionable lifestyle have left him on the football scrapheap at the age of 24. And the former England Under-21 star has now revealed he has been attending the Priory Clinic and has asked to be left alone. Johnson said: “I am more disappointed than anyone but that’s the way it goes. “I have been attending the Priory Clinic for a number of years now with regard to my mental health and would be grateful if I could now be left alone to live the rest of my life.” The Priory specialises in dealing with mental illness, alcoholism and gambling addiction. It has treated several high-profile sports stars including Stan Collymore, Paul Gascoigne and Ricky Hatton. Johnson signed a five-year contract worth £6.5million in 2008 but was paid up and let go by City in December. Confirmation of his release by the Premier League champions came after a Twitter picture emerged of Johnson looking bloated and red-faced in a takeaway. |
