I know he is something of a bit-part player at Charlton these days. It's just that I remember at Ipswich, very early on, and thinking his amazing speed and power were going to take him a long, long way and there was serious talk of him going to Arsenal.

Where did it all go wrong? How many other cases are there in British football of such obvious and huge talent more or less being frittered away?

(No disrespect intended to any of the club Danny's played for since Ipswich but surely he had the ability to be a top Premier League player - that's the point)

no idea HV but he certainly had potential as did the Man U loanee who played and then signed for Watford (name eludes me) but 3 scenarios in the frame. Injuries, attitude or lost drive and hunger because he earned too much. Wages wise it is too much too young for most young professionals. Definitely turns the head and creates a constant gorging ego.

The Man Utd guy signed by Watford.....didn't he die in a car accident???  Davis was his name IIRC.

Seth Johnson had everything needed to go to the very top. Nearly scored with his first touch on debut for England v Italy, but unfortunately his knee injuries got the better of him, and Leeds never saw the best of him after forking out £9m.

Retired very young.

Funnily enough, two other Crewe Alexandra Academy kids also had to retire far too early with all the talent in the world - Rob Jones and Dean Ashton.

Typical trend when players leave Ipswich, they seem to never reach their potential and should have stayed put at the club.
Chris Kiwomya (very little at Arsenal), Dozzell (very so so at Spurs), Kieron Dyer (ok, a few England caps, but seems to have never really fulfilled potential), Richard Wright, and now possibly Wickham.

Dont think Dario gets any cut of transfer fees anymore. Nicky Maynard playing at Cardiff now, think he will do well there.

We've done well for strikers out of Reaseheath. Adebola, Ashton, Hulse, Maynard, Powell. Max Clayton next off the belt. Platt and Murphy both played up front for Crewe as well.

Hated that guy. All he ever seemed to do was play against us (Norwich) and Score Cry

I always liked him. He is genuine, hard working, skilful and takes a goal well. He did very well for us in 2010/2011 and started 2011/12 well with 6 goals by this sort of time last year. There was talk about clubs preparing £500,000-£1,000,000 bids but he got injured and then went through a barren spell on his return to the side, and as our unbeaten run went on he fell down the pecking order when Nick Powell, AJ Leitch-Smith and Max Clayton got going and it became clear that a move would be best for both parties.

He wasnt always the most popular at Crewe, and can look very poor when he is off his game, but given decent service will score a lot of goals for someone.

I hope he does well for you, he is bound to score against us anyway.
