Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg have reportedly completed the signing of Hulk from Porto.

A deal was reached between the two clubs on Monday with the agreement to be fully finalized by the end of the day, according to A Bola.

The fee for the Brazilian striker is yet to be formally announced but it is believed to be between £40m and £45m.

Hulk had been continually linked with Chelsea throughout the summer, but Chelsea refused to meet Porto's valuation of the forward.

No great loss for Chelsea, but bad news for Spurs if they wanted another crack at Moutinho in January.  Serves Levy right.

Surely Porto to Zenit is a step down in footballing terms?
Report judzis007 September 3, 2012 6:08 PM BST

is that some kind of shame to play in russia!? Etoo went to russia , now Lass , Hulk , coaches like Hiddink and Emery and in the future there will be even  more high class players because russian football is progressing every year.

Just placed a value bet imo... on Champions league group qualification:

The following acca for the to qualify market:

Barcelona, Bayern Munich, PSG and Zenit St Petersburg (1.66)... for 177 euros @2.27 = 401 euros.
Report Biscuit1979 September 3, 2012 9:53 PM BST
€80m on 2 players in one day, that is some going.

For those who take a keen interest in the new financial fair play ruling (yes you Mr Wenger), i'd love to know how the f*ck Zenit are getting round it.
Report AndrewMat September 3, 2012 9:58 PM BST
Don't forget, that Zenit's Gazprom bosses have a lot of influence on almost all Europian countries, as they can turn off the valve anytime and there won't be any gaz, so Euporean officials, including football ones tend to close their eyes on those little florics LaughCrazy

Hulk just a big bully, no guile.  Decent shot but one footed donkey for me.

It would be good if a few of these russian teams could become major players in the champions league, good for football. The Ruskies are loaded so you never know

That's euro's though. In pounds it's roughly 32m for each player, seems about the going rate for top class players these days.
Report Stringer September 3, 2012 11:25 PM BST
30m for berbatov or 32m for HULK

benfica got the better deal for witzel though

I guess he's one of the Belgians that you do rate Stringer ?

Still 100-1 out right and 5-2 for the group with the books just now ...... gonna be scalped shortly I guess. The 5-2 looks a good bet having watched Milan and Malaga this season.

Some people thought it was crazy when Atletico spent 40m on Falcao a year ago, looks like a bargain now.

Hulk can be inconsistent, but when he is on form he is unplayable. On his debut for Porto he injured a team mate for 3 weeks with one of his powerful free kicks Laugh.

Not since Roberto Carlos has there been a more powerful left foot.
