Onloan with the option to buy.

Must go down as one of the very worst bits of business in Football history.

Aren't they saying they're contractually obliged to purchase him for £17m if they stay up.

What are the odds of Andy Carroll to stay on BF?
Report der_der_73 August 30, 2012 7:36 PM BST
He is a good player, didnt get much of a chance at liverpool and many of the team last year were rubbish.  Daglish probably expected Downing and Co to supply some assists and we all know how that worked out.  I am a United fan and when he was playing at Newcastle i thought he looked like being a very good player.  I think he will do very well at West Ham and i think Liverpool will recoup some good money for him.
Report berto77 August 30, 2012 7:52 PM BST
Any chance Newcastle will match whatever West Ham propose and Carroll chooses them?

I admire Rodgers decisiveness in making the changes he wants (although I'm not convinced in his judgement of strikers looking at Borini)  but he does drive a terrible bargain with some of the stuff he comes out with.

That statement obviously comes after the "stop them from playing, then..."

Horrible manager!

Big Sam and Kevin Nolan will make Carroll into one of the best goalscorers in the premiership. I don't like either of them as people but you can ignore his record in getting a quart out of a pint pot with big men up front.I'd fancy him to get at least 15 goals in an average team this year and that could mean staying up to build on it next year.
Report STEPTOES YARD August 30, 2012 8:13 PM BST
still be registered with liverpool wont he ?
Report HRH The Lager Khan August 30, 2012 8:49 PM BST
I think the bar has been raised in general in The Premiership since Sam Antichrist had his managerial heyday. His teams have no plan b, cut off the supply to the target men and they're fooked. All the pass and move merchants will make mincemeat of his teams. I'll be amazed if he's still in charge by the start of next season.

I like AC but obviously BR thinks he doesn't fit in with his philosophy. Don't agree but have to give new manager benefit of the doubt. To do this he must be confident of a big striker coming, Walcott or Llorente are the ones strongly linked.

Agree but you do you short of punch upfront.  Llorente would be a great signing but I'd be absolutely amazed if he moved to Liverpool (massive fee, no Champions League etc etc).

TMO, success can turn many a head. You are sounding more like your mancunian neighbours as each day passes.

Liverpool are a huge name around the world, much bigger than City are and ever will be and as such we can still attract top players without the CL. Citeh without a sugar daddy attract the likes of Neil Pointon.
