Hills coupon price changes,shouldn't they inform you.....

it is quite sneaky, but you can refuse the slip if the prices are different.

I've only just found out now she is home. Rang customer services and I have to get back to shop before kick off to cancel,can't do it for me even with slip nos.

they have to have a paper copy, otherwise you could come back and claim a win the next day and they cannot be bothered with that sort of hassle

How many does this shady underhand practice affect across the country? Should have their licence revoked if staff can't be bothered to tell you there is a change. Price is everything,I wouldn't want 8/13 about a 4/5 shot as nor should anybody unless they are lazy or stupid. Mrs gone back to get my £400 back.

ph in the days prior to the internet they would never change the prices. unfortunately it is not the companies you have to blame but the hundreds of arbsters around. they have to protect themselves against people that are betting over 100%

Flea I understand that completely but when a change is forced the slip highlights it to the cashier who can then tell you such.Too many sh*t staff who wouldn't know if the price change is to your detriment or benefit so they just play dumb.

I agree that it would be good form to do that, but staff doesn't have the time and it is clearly indicated on the betting slip. At least it used to be

the slip doesn't process automatically,it pauses to highlight the change then needs to be reinserted giving time to inform customer. Its shoddy and underhand but rant over,she has got dough back and the kettle is on.

In my experience Hills are one of the most decent firms going. Willing to take a fairly decent amount compared to other bookies. Keep an eye on their 'specials' though as they tend to make some unbelievable 'ricks'!

Cant have it though that its 'arbers' fault as to why bookies have to cut prices, sometimes they are just generally poor. s**** knocked me back other week for £50 on a 4/1 boxing bet. I also moves an EVEN money boxing bet to 8/11 by putting £100 on.

Also Skybet knocked me back £20 on a 33/1 draw in a boxing match.

Nothing surprised me with these. I had a winning bet voided because they put the wrong team on the coupon. I'd never noticed because I was backing Germany against either Slovenia/Slovakia. I can't remember which one but Hills had put the wrong one down. Instead of my bet being a winning one, it was simply voided through very little fault of my own.

Bet£3.65 voided a bet of mine last year saying the price id got was an error - despite the fact i backed at 13/8 and watched it go down to 1/2 over 2 days........they said that it didnt happen. There's that many examples of them trying to worm out of paying me that its quite pathetic. And what about Betfrad refusing to pay Barney Curley for the gamble he landed.......utter disgrace! and this is the man we've let take over the Tote!

Totally. That's why they love PR coverage when someone wins £100,000 from a small bet. It sounds great but all those small bets add up for the bookies not the punters.

the thread isn't about knockbacks or getting on,its about informing of a price change on a printed football coupon. The system flags it up but the cashier is dross. You should be informed of price changes as most sensible punters don't want to be on at unders. The 3 cut all won Oxford,Brighton and Swindon. Coventry and Spuds would have got my original picks beaten.

ph dont blame arbers for this the bookies use internet sites to set prices on coupon instead of employing people with knowledge if they put a price on the coupon they should honour it put a limit on the singles maybe but they cant blame anyone else but themselves for being gutless.

I'm not blaming anybody except the woman who processed the bet and decided to proceed without informing my wife of 3 price changes over 3 wagers. I don't care about arbing or liabilities as I know prices must be cut if books need balancing or you want to duck something. The sharp practice is processing a bet at lower prices than you marked/expected. Its like expecting to buy a pint tomorrow for £3,however they only pour 4/5 and hand it over and be glad you got that much for your £3.

if when racing tomorrow you shout in £200 @ 4/5 and take your printed receipt from the on course bookie only to find he has processed 8/13 on the ticket. Are you happy? Would you consider it underhand and sharp practice? If he replied sorry its 8/13, you can play or leave the wager as you see fit.There is meant to be some semblance of trust or there was. Personally if I was laying I'd confirm each bet verbally before issuing the receipt,perhaps I'm just a dinosaur.

exactly what last post said, y when you know 4 a fact a whole host of prices have changed, do u then need to complain bout it when they have done just that. every1 knows shop staff cudn't give a toss and just stick them through the till regardless, so if u were that worried bout it, do it online and stop crying bout it i say.

i work for stan james they get an option the price changes flash in front of them and they are asked do you accept the price changes yes or no you should have been informed staff just push them through

hold up here brains. where did i say exactly anything that in any way stated what i was or what i would do in this situation. You start this thread with an opening post, basically asking a question that doesn't require an answer.....Obviously you should be informed...but anyone with half a brain knows that dealing with these divs in shops is a gamble in itself. This sort of thread then always morphs into some sort of bookie bashing thread, basically just everyone having a moan up, which don't get me wrong i have done in the past until i realised that if i kept going into shops i would end up killing some div who was working there. Online is only option. Limits are always gonna be an issue, but come on, there is ways round these things and the hassle of doing that is far less than having to deal with shop staff imo.

ph, you have an absolutely valid complaint. Ladcrooks are just as guilty as WH, and the rest also. I learned a while back ALWAYS to ask if there are any price changes from the original on coupons. It saves you the hassle of checking the receipt and then asking for it to be voided, which they must do. As noted, most LBO staff don't care, and if they do, wouldn't know the difference between 4/5 and 8/13 anyway. They don't have to think or even have basic arithmetic these days.

A FURTHER WORD OF WARNING. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, check the price on your receipt regardless. Often WH pricefinder screens or even the manager's monitors in WH and Lads will show the same price as the coupon, but when processed the receipt shows an amended price. I've caught this out several times lately, and the staff, genuinely or not, always profess disbelief, but it happens.
