Bold have reported Klose to start. Podolski and Mueller on bench as well apparently.
By:
Bild (blooming predictive text)
By:
Schurle and Reus in aswell??? Are they really likely to make that many changes
By:
Don't think Podolski or Muller have played particularly well so far. Gomez decision looks a bit strange though (if true of course).
By:
No but changing the whole front line..... Might not be true, pretty sure everyone said Klose would start the first game not Gomez. Can't see how you could drop Gomez myself
By:
Kicker's main headline is that Klose will start.
Their expected lineup: Neuer - Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm - Khedira, Schweinsteiger - T. Müller, Özil, Podolski - Klose |
By:
RUMOUR IS THAT KLOSE STARTS
By:
livescores lising gomez as starting with klose
By:
sorry gomez with podolski, no klose
By:
I think i'd believe Kicker over livescores
http://www.kicker.de/ |
By:
Does Bender have a chance of starting?
By:
Still would be sceptical about this, can you imagine the reaction if they got put out with podolski muller and gomez all dropped?
By:
Kicker aren't usually wrong, so i'd expect the team to be as close to this as possible
Neuer - Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm - Khedira, Schweinsteiger - T. Müller, Özil, Podolski - Klose |
By:
They're all reporting Gomez out, the main rumours about Podolski and Muller come from Bild. As Biscuit says Kicker are usually reliable so we'll have to wait and see. Would be seething if I was in Gomez for top scorer though.
Germany's price to qualify and match odds hasn't moved since these rumours started. |
By:
They are reporting no podolski or muller either, replaced with Reus, Schürrle and Klose
By:
Thats why I asked, I'm on Gomez top scorer
By:
Bad luck thebigp. Can't really work that one out, unless he's got a niggle.
By:
Germany have officially came out and said he has no injury but not that he is starting or not, i still dont know if i believe these rumours
By:
I could understand them replacing one, but there's no way they'll change their entire front three after winning every game so far
By:
Agree far too big a risk to change all 3. Kicker now reporting Klose, Reus and Schurle to play.
By:
F*ck me they are as well. Now changed their lineup to this:
Neuer - Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm - Khedira, Schweinsteiger - Reus, Özil, Schürrle - Klose Very bizarre after 3 straight wins. |
By:
Maybe trying to mix it up against a very tight defense?
By:
Maybe or they think they can get away with resting players against Greece. They are all decent replacements but a bit arrogant to be resting front 3 in a Euro QF. Doubt these players have ever played together. Imagine the abuse if it goes wrong.
By:
Wonder if there's been a training ground row or something.
185 caps and 79 goals between the 3 of them, 3 wins out of 3 and the tournaments top goalscorer..............and you drop them all. If true there must be more to it than simply a 'tactical' change. For a start the new front 3 won't have ever played together. |
By:
Found throughout Euro 2012 that nobody in the media knows till the teams are released.
Plenty of wrong teams announced.Would be suprised by this. |
By:
Can't believe he'd be resting players in the quarters of the Euro's. Bring them off if you're 2-0 after an hour, but you'd start your strongest team. Either a row or maybe just a big shake up if he hasn't been happy with their performances (which makes Gomez being dropped genuinely surprising).

Found throughout Euro 2012 that nobody in the media knows till the teams are released. Plenty of wrong teams announced. Fair comment but Kicker are fairly reliable and well respected. They even own/manage/award the trophy for the Bundesliga's top goalscorer every season. It's not as if they're the Daily Star having a guess. |
By:
shouldn't Germany drift in match odds market because of this?
By:
I wouldnt say so, not with Klose goalscoring record at major championships.
By:
Klose, Reus and Schurrle all being backed in on the 'to score' market
By:
I think the mentality is that he needs someone that can run at a very solid defence, henge Klose instead of Gomez. Gomez is a goalpoacher, but would be very tightly marked. Klose can actually create something from nothing
By:
German media now reporting the team changes. Biscuit, kicker are well known for being behind with line-ups. Check their site on any given Saturday. Klose, Reus and Schuerlle will all start. Had a massive trade on these three.
By:
So Kicker were right then?
DIE LINKE - any reasons being given for changing the entire front 3 in such a big game? Bit of a bold move isn't it? |
By:
Schuerlle, what an unfotunate name
![]() |
By:
Probable line-ups:
Germany: Neuer - Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm - Schweinsteiger, Khedira - Müller, Özil, Podolski - Gomez Greece: Sifakis - Torosidis, Papadopoulos, Sokratis, Tzavellas - Katsouranis, Makos, Maniatis - Salpingidis, Samaras - Gekas http://www.bundesliga.de/en/em2012/news/0000215243.php |
By:
Despite the goals Gomez has been criticised for his lack of movement, also taking the blame, rightly or wrongly, for Oezil failing to sparkle. Loew said early this week that he could well imagine Klose starting. Mueller and Podolski simply not been good enough.
By:
Oh to have the Germans problems then, they win all 3 games, top the group with ease and it's not good enough!

By:
Could always be a bluff. Klose was expected to start first game, remember? There was a big move on Klose for golden boot on the first game day.
By:
Pretty ruthless selection. Laurent Blanc must be considering 11 changes by that logic
