I hate United but he defo meant that
By:
nothing else open to him,a bit of vision and spontaneity.Well played that man,as with Walcott give them too much thinking time and you get zip.
By:
Genius finish in my opinion.
Intuition and awareness at its very best. |
By:
city fan here but think he meant to do it, great play.
By:
He was off balance from having to change direction so fast so it was the only thing he could do before he fell to ground, great goal imo.
By:
great vision and deft touch with so little time to play the ball

Still trying to work out whether dsmith meant this thread title or was it a fluke?
By:
Welbeck meant to score that way though.
By:
I think he meant it, brilliant finish. As was his Messi-like dink in one of the friendlies before the tournament.
All the hype is about Ox, but Welbeck looks like a proper star in the making; excellent technique, lots of pace, works hard. Him and Rooney upfront should be a good combo, with Caroll a direct option from the bench. |
By:
I thought the thread title was great intuition and awareness
By:
He definitely meant it. I'm surprised it's even a debate. Sweden's 1st goal was a bit of a fluke mind.

Backheeled onto the forum then dsmith

best backheeler since denis law sent them down
By:
urban myth donny. didnt send them down.
if anyone thinks its a fluke they have never played football. |
By:
Great finish.
If Ronaldo or Messi did that Dawsy and Jamdav would be crossing swords. |

having watched it a couple of times, i conclude that he meant it, but still fortunate it went in the net
sometimes we go over the top when players score goals on TV for club or country. anyone who was a half-decent player in their youth would have been able to direct that towards goal, imo |
By:
Of course he ment it, what a stupid question.
By:
You guys have convinced me, I was out last night and didn't watch any of the after analysing, but just watch again on YouTube, yes well done Danny
By:
Deffo meant it..he looked around straight away to see if it was going in
By:
freddiek still seething!
By:
Yes he meant it, great awareness, good goal
Genius thread title |
By:
Great thread title and re your point about ABUs DSmith, despite my ABU tendencies I think it was a great goal by the lad.
By:
Genius finish in my opinion.
Intuition and awareness at its very best. It was pretty much the only thing he could do in that position, and i must have seen the same sort of finish about half a dozen times last season....the goal was all about Walcott's burst between the defenders for me |
By:
Why did he get up and appeal for a penalty then?
By:
Got no particular view on Wellbeck but if this goal was scored by Spain (build up as well) many on this forum (let alone in the meeja) would be drooling non stop! Good build up, nowt complicated, a bit of pace and a deft finish.

By:
bl oody hell..everyone in agreement shocker !!
By:
Would say he only tried the backheel at the last second, as he was losing his balance, but showed quick thinking for sure.
By:
most goals are flukes otherwise football would be more high scoring with all the chances missed
By:
Goal of the tournament.
