I might have (unknowingly), but you're probably right. I should have added 'metaphorically speaking'.

Terry far and away the best captain if we weren't so terrified of journalists searching for scapegoats. He may not be captain in name but clearly looks after things in the team by his personality.

watching him trying to keep up with the slow coach Zlatan just proved that it is only time before he gets completley mugged by a forward with pace, it looked like he had a fridge freezer stuck to his back he nearly fell over being left so exposed, granted he managed to hold zlatan up, but if it was ronaldo etc he would have been left on the floor, reminded me of Barry agst Germany in 2010. Fantastic tackles and desire tonight but by god he is going to get badly shown up in the knockout stages

I think his lack of pace, and the risk he runs (no pun indented) getting exposed in vast areas behind him by forwards even marginally quicker than, is an opportunity cost England and Hodgson are happy to pay due to the leadership and unrivaled defensive qualities than he brings to the team.
There is no better English center back at leading a defence, and carrying out the strict implementation of defensive shape RH is set on than Terry. Considering that he will usually be defending on the edge of the England area in games against France, Spain, and that Lescott will always be issued the responsibility of tracking forwards when space is left behind - I don't see too much of a problem.
