maybe keanes point is this,
think about the league team who have similar supporters and get similar acholades to ireland, when you,ve worked it out and seen the state they are currently in you might understand keanes point better, ![]() |

Keane's point about the team maybe be valid
Keane's comments about the supporters is a disgrace ..."Supporters" are there to hold on ....support! Would you prefer if the supporters booed and went on a violent riot after the game? The man (Keane) is a disgrace ! |

Keane is degenerating into little more than a man good for a chippy, cussed, contrary quote. A la his erstwhile ghost-writer Eamon Dunphy.
The irony of his new studio-bound persona (a life-form he's previously been unstinting in his denigraton of) in the wake of his managerial career fizzling out seem lost on the massive tool that he is. |

no but as well as players you had the top brass on tv today lauding it up because other members of euefa were slapping them on the back for their supporters, remember everyone loves a loser

He had a point to be fair. Maybe went overboard but Ireland were a joke and seemed to be content in that. I'm Irish-descent so was gutted at last nights game but the truth is that Itreland were amateur, so bad. Spain didn't even have to work for their goals.
The ITV studio and media at large at patronising ****. 'Oh well the team is **** but they have ace fans!' And I think thats what pissed Keane off. Not that the fans themselves were decent. |

Keane never had a go at the supporters did he, he bemoaned the players performances and said the fans deserved better.
The fans deserved better than the performances they saw against Croatia and Spain, all Keane was saying is that they might have to show that instead of the stereotypical jolly Irish who don't mind losing. Interesting to see the Guardian now loves stereotypes, should be an interesting development. |

From GOD-
Great post "Football is not all about winning, the fans expressed an attitude towards life that is rare. This is our characteristic, to enjoy in success or failure, never to despair in times of adversity. It gave an impression to all who watched that the Irish spirit i still one that is to love life, live to fight another day. Keane walked out on his people and now lives in England. He has no perspective on Ireland and the spirit of its people anymore." |

as plenty of managers will tell you, chairmen and international fa bigwigs dont change managers and effect change, supporters do,maybe not this particular group who are just out of their depth , but in the past and the future a bit of protest and dissent from the crowd might effect a change in play or personnel

What a load of ****. 67 caps says he might know a bit about what he's talking about and that it might be worth considering his view point. |

He hasn't aclue talking about Irish fans/supporters/nation , he may know something about Footbal.
Not the first time he turned his back on the Irish nation! A bully who if you stand up to him, has nothing to show for it! |

A Guardian "journalist" writes complete and utter rubbish. Has this ever happened before?
