For me it's Russia to qualify @ 1.43 (I took 1.48 on Tuesday)

Best team in that group by a country mile.

Home country I guess.

Sweden are a nice bet to qualify. Can see France beating England on Monday and Sweden beating Ukraine.

France will easy top our group. But , what i dont get is that some people are backing portugal to get through? in my opinion , i can't see past holland and germany in that group.

You know what, you guys might just be right. Up until now i hadn't really looked at Ukraine but their form, their players, their history all points to the fact that they're just not that good at this moment in time. They've lost to both France & Sweden at home in the last 12 months and the only credible result they've gotten at home over the last 12 months was a 3-3 in November with Germany (when the Germans had plenty of big names missing).

I'm blaming you guys if I end up going in on this and it goes tits up!
Report viva el presidente! June 7, 2012 10:48 PM BST
trouble is it's so hard to gauge the value of hosting these things.

last time when it was co-hosted austria and switzerland both failed to get out of their groups. but iirc, till then every host had made at least the semis.

so yeah, I can imagine ukraine crashing and burning. but I wouldn't bank on it.

^^^ intresting^^^^

2 points = 2 draws and a defeat.  if the defeat was to France, with the other 2 games the draws, the odds are 27.7 as an acca.

Report desperatemunter June 7, 2012 10:59 PM BST
Sweden are terrible - been coming to that conclusion myself too : the only country they might give a game is Ukraine.

South Korea surprised everyone in 2002, Portugal got to final in '04 as did Germany in '06 but the trend has been broken. African teams did brutal for example two years ago when they had the support of an entire continent behind them. Because Ukraine is a fairly familiar spot for most international sides in Europe, I don't think the environment will intimidate opposition any more than it would do under normal circumstances (e.g. in a Euro or world cup qualifier).

I also think Ukraine are a pretty average side and it's reflected in their form, their ranking and their odds. Odds are slightly distorted because of home advantage but that mattered nout when France & Sweden beat them less than a year ago. Nothing has changed.

Poland win @ 5/4
Russia win @ 11/10

Anything above evens is fantastic value. Get on the singles and the double. You won't see 2 better bets all tournament.

Yes, I agree with TS, Russia is one of favourites who really can take 9 points and to be 1st. Russia looks better than Spain and Germany.

Poland will not win the group. I think they are the worst team on the tournament, sorry but this is true. Russia take 9 points, Czech or Greece will place 2nd

what if i told u greece would win back in 2004? you would mortgage your house to lay it. Anything can happen in a knock out tournament like the euros, luck plays a big part. And if you look at the team of poland carefully, its not a bad team. In fact, it reminds me of the greek team in 2004. And lewandowski is a very potent striker as well. People always look at teams on paper but when it comes to tournaments, team spirit, cohesiveness, bonding, etc plays a huge part which is why england has always underachieved even with a strong team. Players are good individually but jsut cannot click as a team because they mostly play in different teams, albeit in the same league. They have to adjust to a new formation/tactics in a short time. Compare that to germany/spain, most of their first team are from 1 or 2 big teams in their league, bayern, madrid, barca, etc. They gel better and are familiar with one another.
