Simples:

Ferguson could easily do what Mancini has done - buy virtually a whole new squad to win the league, but -

Mancini couldn't necessarily do what Ferguson did - build a club organically to win the league.

Man City fans will tell you that they don't care. That might be true, that might not - but the fact remains the same. Their achievement is not on a par with the like of Liverpool or Man Utd.

There is no doubt that Fergie has been a great manager. He was the future once. Not any more. Even so how long did it take him to win his first League title and how long has it taken Mancini?

You United supporters would be far better not raging at the dying of the light because the more bitter and twisted you become the happier the rest of the country becomes. You have had your day at the top of the table but now you can move over gracefully or you can be kicked off it but you are leaving with or without your coats.
Report FatGeordie May 28, 2012 10:37 PM BST
As an indpendant, to see a 'smaller club' knock united off the top is fantastic.

United have sat back on their laurels and expect to win the league because of who they are.

To say that city have bought the title is ridiculous, ferguson may have spent less on players but united have undoubtably bought favour for years.

Seeing the smug arrogance knocked out of united was brilliant, and the bitter jealous and petty comments from the 'fans' is pathetic.

City were better, and they won. Grow up, put they toys back in the pram and come back next season expecting to have to work for it like the rest of us.

But would many have been able to do what Ferguson did at Aberdeen and Man Utd?

Nah.

Not sure what the point of this thread is. Obviously the answer to this question is no, because even Fergie himself has admitted that if he became manager of United today, he would never be given the time he was allowed 25 years ago to build a side. He went years without winning anything worthwhile and things are obviously different at top clubs in modern day football.

Nothing more to see here, move along folks.
Report mr-popular May 29, 2012 7:59 AM BST
Check the mug biscuit out!! He admits to not understanding the thread, then tells people to move along.

Moron, anyone?

As so many of you have missed, this isn't about whether football has changed, whether it's a good thing, whether United fans are bitter etc.

No - this thread is quite simply to say that when people show a lack of respect for City's win, it's for a very good reason. You can try and defelect it as bitterness, but that doesn't work unless you can actually argue the point.

Which you can't.

Put it another way. If someone pumped in the same money to Aston Villa, do you think they'd struggle to win the league?

Nah.

It'sa simple point with no hidden message; people don't regard City's achievements as particularly special, because there's a feeling that anyone could have done it.

Not so for Ferguson's achievements at Man Utd.
