The 29-year-old Stoke City player is accused of assaulting Jenna Timmis, who claimed to be a friend of his partner. He is alleged to have clashed with the 31-year-old after she confronted him, claiming he was flirting with other women at exclusive Circle Club in Manchester in the early hours on Sunday. A witness told The Sun: "This girl started to have a real go at him saying, 'You've got a baby, you got my friend pregnant and now you are here with other girls’. "Afterwards he was dragged outside. She was pretty upset with him." A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "At approximately 3.30am a woman was assaulted at a nightclub on Barton Arcade, Manchester City Centre. Less than two hours after the alleged assault, Pennant was involved in a car crash in Sale, Greater Manchester, in which his white BMW collided with a silver Audi. The driver of the Audi went to hospital for treatment for a minor back injury. Pennant, of Dunham Road, Altrincham, Cheshire, was charged with drink-driving, driving while disqualified, and having no insurance. He is due to appear before Trafford magistrates in relation to the alleged motoring offences on May 9.

Would not be surprised if magistrates refered him to crown court. They do not have power to give a prison sentence and drink driving whilst disqualified has potential of prison sentence. One things for sure, he will be paying top whack for a barrister
