Rangers bought league titles for over a decade. And Man U have spent hundred of millions down the years, more than any other English club. Nobody likes to see money deciding titles, but I've no sympathy for Man U in this case. At least Man City are a proper club with proper fans who have supported thru sh1tty times for generations. I hope they win it (I don't think they will by the way). Let their fans have their day.

Every club in every professional league in one way, shape or form buys the league. Some do it illegally mind you but that is another arguement.........

What a totally shambolic thread, so everybody should not be able to go and buy new players, some better, some not and teams like man city wouldnt be able to compete with the likes of chelsea CMON CITY.

arsenal are a great club but we are never going to win the league unless we buy top quality players, Wengers experiment of raising a youth team to be world champions failed, why? because they all left to go to better clubs who were winning trophies and promised them more money.

I thought Man Utd had been buying the league for years by having the 12th man firmly embedded on the payroll.

Ciy maybe 'noveou riche' and Utd don't like being the 2nd club in their own city but the fans are going to have to get used to it. Perenially big spenders to suggest they are in some way paupers and for the good of football they should prevail smacks of the biggest load of hypocrisy ever.

Out of interest, according to transfer league.co.uk, Man Utd are 4th in a table of nett transfer spending from 1992-2011, with an average of £8.8m spent per season.  Chelsea are first (£25.8m), Man City 2nd (£23.7m) and Liverpool 3rd (£11.3m).  Although Utd have spent £483m on players since 1992, they have recouped £305m from selling players.  This compares with Man City's purchases (£649m) versus their sales (£175m).

I would like to add to that that you can only sell £305 million worth of players if you have had the money to buy some of the worlds best players/talent in the first place (for example Ronaldo). Also the actual transfer values are massively different nowadays compared to 1992 so it is inevitable that to build a team of world class players is considerable more expensive nowadays than it was back in 1992.

United spent about 2 decades trying to buy the league and only finally succeeded when they were handed a massive double cash grab by the formations of the Premier League and Champions League.  The relatively level playing field prior to that was shattered forever and it is now only possible for ambitious clubs to challenge by spending first and letting revenues catch up later.  As long as that is done by the introduction of iinvestment capital, rather than by reckless borrowing, it should not be viewed as a problem.  At least City's owners are putting money into football not sucking it out like the hillbillies that own the Trafford club. .

and how about the 20 'fergie time' watches that a referee must wear and  display in order to get into old trafford on match day.

There should be a limit on foreign players, say 3 per club. I don't care about competing internationally, I want an honest and fair domestic championship and a strong national team.
