My PC laptop is more powerful, cost less and has advantages that are favourable in my line of work. If you want to pay more for the same hardware that's your call. It is not so much about being a peasant, more about being aware of technology and distorted social norms.

I was never an Apple fanboy. I resented how everyone seem to blindly by an ipod 5/6/7 years ago. Now i own an iMac, Macbook and iPad. Apple make the most user friendly products of any company I know. And for the 95% of people who huse computers but arent techies, like me, that is what we want.

The spec (ram, cpu, graphics esp.) is poor on a macbook relative to other laptops. What you get is a brilliantly designed laptop in which the hardware and software work seamlessly together. Its the little details that make the difference. I could go on about them all day, they make the real difference.

Most people I know who study or work in computer science laugh at how awful windows is. They prefer linux for coding. Many of them own macbooks.

Verdict: Only peasants use windows

Never understood why the original ipod was so popular, just an mp3 player.

I have an iphone, but in future I will probably buy a cheaper similar phone like a samsung, as I don't think the apple products are worth the price difference.

basically, a lot of the apple mystique comes from its dominance of creative niche industries in the 90s - specifically DTP and music.

the kind of people using mac stuff back then, when it genuinely was the struggling endangered underdog rather than the world's biggest company, included a disproportionate number of journalists and musicians. ie people whose opinions you were endlessly exposed to, and people who seemed to have cooler lives than you.

basically, if you can't use windows stuff to make the music you want to make now, you don't have the creativity tomake good music anyway so it's irrelevant.

"voodoo ray" - a record which p!sses on 99.9% ofmusic made today - was only called that because the full sample (peter cook saying "voodoo rage") was too long for AGCG's sampler.

The only people that think windows is good are window users. I own both and my macbook pro is a thousand times better than my sony

windows is fine. PCs are cheaper, there's loads more software and cheap accessories for them, and if you need a new cable or something, you don't have to pay through the nose for monopolistic, apple-branded crap.

Having used PCs all my life, I finally got a Mac a few months ago (Macbook Air). The difference is night and day, like switching to a Ferrari after years of Ladas. I'm no Apple fan but the Mac is worth every penny. I don't think Macs fit into the lemming fanboy products anyway.
I don't know anyone outside of designers etc, who owns a Mac. The general public don't own Macs. They're more likely to own iPads - to which I say, save your money and spend it on a Mac.

Mac books are poor value and unreliable. At my last place of work they ditched them because of this. At first people didn't want to revert back to PCs but now the opposite is true.

I've lost count of how many times I've looked at some gadget or other and the reviews have angry mac users on about how it doesn't work with their mac. So : you pay a lot more for - to be less compatible with hardware and much less available software.

It has an apple badge on it, so that's nice. Not as goood as "The JC Guava" (tm) but nice.

I also demand Betfair add the JC Guava to their list of emoticons .

People are having problems with windows not with PC laptops. If you don't like windows install os x lion on a pc laptop or any other operating system. This may help if you like OS X. Although it won't help with your low self esteem.
