Just logged into an account of mine to see £240, which surprised me.
Checked back, and I'd had £1.25 e/w on Reading at 150/1 in December 2011! I know it's only peanuts compared to some punters on here but, it was a more than welcome buffer.

backing barca to qualify for the final, going to bed for 2 weeks, and waking up skint 
I stuck some money on Motherwell a few years ago at good odds on helicopter sunday, i was just rounding off my account balance to a square figure.
I was with my daughter at a kids play place when i seen Celtic were winning 1-0. I was driving home and heard the result, £900 quid i won, what a bonus that was.

Another good one for me was a few years ago, i think it may of been the last day of the Italian season when ( excuse me if i'm wrong about the teams ) Lazio v Udinese ??? anyway the price for the 0-0 draw was down in the 3's, fix was the cry on the forum and the draw price was ridiculously low.
The home team were 0-3 down when i backed Lazio £50 at 60's 80's or what ever it was. When i checked the score later it had finished 4-3 and i was quids in.

Not so much a surprise, just feckin lucky. First game at Brighton's new stadium in August. Playing Doncaster, who are tipped for relegation. We've just won League 1. We were 2.4 or something to win, and in a mad frenzy of optimism I deposited £300 from my credit card and put it all on.
Fast forward, Donny winning 1-0 at 89 minutes. Feeling utterly sick as I hadn't told the mrs about the bet. BANG! two Brighton goals in injury time, and suddenly £400 richer.

Mine was good fotune from an error I made. Put £25 on Mastercraftsman to win the Guineas with Lads. Logged in a few weeks later and had an extra £175 in my account. Turns out I had bet on it to win the Irish 2000 guineas.
When Crewe got promoted to the Championship for the first time in their history in 1997, we were well looking forward to the local derby against Stoke as we hadnt meet them on level terms in donkeys yonks. i was on a game in rumania or bulgaria or somewhere the other day. team were losing with 10 men with 89 mins on the clock and somehow won.. dodged a bullet there.

My biggest surprise was the last day of the football season in 1999/2000. The details of the bet are a bit vague but from memory I thought I had a £10 treble on the phone on Bradford to bt Liverpool at about 100/30, Villa to bt Man Utd at about 4/1 and one other match which I forget.
Bradford duly bt Liverpool to avoid relegation and the match I forget also won, but Villa lost 1-0 at home to Man Utd. A few days later I checked my bank statement and found approximately £600 from said bookmaker in my account. Obviously there was some error, either recording the bet, settling the bet or I hadn't included Villa in the treble, but some other team. I never got a paper statement with the bet on it and it wasn't a matter I wanted to pursue!

I made £40 courtesy of your thread on general betting viva that I wouldn't have made without it. I've never looked at their promotions before (always thought I was excluded). Just happened to look at the url you put down out of interest and the promotional period fell in the right 2 weeks for me.

got a 50 quid free bet from betfair. Put it on a 4 leg multi not expecting much. The final match was the Man U everton game where I was on the draw. Checked my balance to find 3 grand of winnings. Twas a good weekend!

Opened an account with Slybet just before the Arsenal Barca Champions League final. Deposit £25 get £25 free I think.

Stuck on a crazy £1, 10 horse favourite acca a few years ago just before going off on holiday, and I'm talking minutes before I left. Phoned up for a bet a few days later, whilst still on holiday, and asked how much was in account first - expecting them to say £50/60. They said £1,500 ish!! I'd totally forgotten about the acca and all had won!

few years ago lyon were 1/2 at home to fenerbache in champions league opened a new account with a bookie registered a credit card and put 2 grand on was told because it was a credit card the money couldnt be refunded back to card so they would have to send a cheque if bet won ok no problem.

A few years ago, while out in the pub on a Saturday, I had done a good few placepots and yankees. Was losing on most bets but placepot in Doncaster was still alive in the last leg. I was on a 12/1 shot and he came 4th in a 10 horse race. I went back to the pub, totally annoyed and poor. Low and behold, a stewards enquiry. My horse is promoted to third, and my £2 placepot nets me £1314. Got very drunk.
not quite up there with the thousands and that but few weeks ago i was very drunk on a thursday night watching the darts. i decided to have a 50 pound lay of taylor match odds v wade at 1/3 but i clicked on the wrong market and layed taylor most 180s. taylor destroyed wadey 8-3 r 4 but wadey won the 180s so i woke up expecting to be down doe but was in fact up.

There is a £100 up laying any unquoted at 4/1. 4/1 ! I couldn't believe it so hurrily rushed to snap up that £100 at 4's.Next thing I know another £100 pops up at 4's again so I snap that up.Tens secs later another £100 at 4's.I'm thinking to myself some mug must be p1ssed and throwing his money away.Anyway this goes on until I'm near full bank on at 4's.Once I'm up to my neck in it I phone my mate and tell him to lump on only to then realize I'm actually looking and betting on the correct score 2 market!! So the any unquoted I'm backing has to finish at least 8-0 !!

slightly different, but last season I was tick trading the fulham liverpool game, and got caught in a price move, plus the game kicked off slightly before I expected it too.
so, I'm desperately trying to red up for an all round -50, but before I can liverpool go straight up the pitch and score.

I remember a few years back when it was the Liverpool v West Ham cup final and a mate of mine had found that you caould back Steven Gerrard to be man of the match at 13/2 with one of the smaller online firms - proces were much shorter elsewhere. I opened an account and stuck a ton on it. Watching the final, and probably one of Gerrards best performances ever (!) I was trembling all the way through. I hadn't realised, however, that in the rules for the bet, it stated that he had to be BBC MOTM, and this had to be announced during the programme. My excitement soon died down when, because of the extended game, there was very limited post match discussion, and no formal announcement that he was MOTM.
I gave up on the bet, but a few days later, the company in question paid out - very unexpected. withdrew and closed the account straight away!

few weeks ago it was nuremberg schalke, was intending to put £20 on AUQ full time thinking schalke might do them over, without realising put it on the half time AUQ and it was nuremberg scoring a 45th minute goal to go 3-0 up haha, only won me about £300 but a nice mess up to make
Tonight I left the house at 8 having put a lay bet on Sam Stosur in the tennis, walked round to my mates having written off the money as Sharapova was a break down in the 2nd and heading for defeat. Just got home to find an extra £100 in my account! Proper surprise...

some might remember the Man City v Fulham bot mistake. Fulham went 1-0 up and someones bot had prices up for the 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 to City. I hoovered £2.9K of that. If my memory serves me right there was nearly £80k available on those correct scores.
did a 10/1 lay accumulator for £300 after a good weekend - Stoke held off spurs at spurs and the others came good, needed liverpool to not win at QPR for it to come good but they were 2-0 up, went to kip in a foul mood, woke up to see on teletext 3-2 to QPR - good old liverpool. Hopefully will not win today @ 1.89 also 
Cardinal sin of betting off-my-face and laid far far more than I could afford of Bayern in the German cup final 2008 vs Dortmund who equalised in the 91st. Missed the last few minutes asleep and logged on the next evening to see a balance and thought I'd accidentally hacked someone's account.
