I'd probably tick a lot of the boxes. I spend around 40 hours a week punting so that could well be classed as a problem. The only questions I'd ask is do you have to be losing to be considered a problem gambler? Many I know spend far longer at work and get less money so do they have a problem too?

Very good question, i'd say that you've got a problem even if you are winning , if you find that you are sacrificing your family by ways of spending little or no attention on them because you'd rather be sat in front of the computer/tele.

Many people spend far longer working and don't see their family during that time though. If you spend 40 hours a week punting/trading surely that is no different? As long as you're providing for your family I hasten to add.

With a standard job though is that you're out the house for 8/10 hours and once you are home , that's it and you are then with the family.
With gambling you could be all day on the horses and half the night on football and god knows what else, it can easily span all day and all night these days.

True but if you just dedicate 40 hours a week to this I'd say you're fine. Remember there'll be plenty who put in a 40+ hour week at work then spend the same amount of 'leisure' time on here neglecting everything. As with everything you have to strike a balance.

If you find yourself sitting on your laptop at gone 2am, squinting at a dodgy live internet feed, willing another goal in a Copa Libertadores match between teams from Bolivia and Peru knowing very well that a) it won't happen and b) you have to be up for work in 5 hours time then you have a problem...................so count me in!
