Yes he is actually very very good in his TV role.

The key to Young' spinning top trick is to get the shoulder in front of the leading knee then twirl

Doing an excellent job, Neville Neville must be proud.

Basically said Young felt the touch and went down, 'knew exactly what he was doing'

Being a Pool fan, I hated the guy when he played.
But, he is one of the best pundits I have seen in recent years on SKY (that's a small selection right there). Un-biased and insightful in his analysis, there is indeed a decent brain in that lad. |

He's in on the conspiracy, don't be fooled.

Agreed no rain. He actually does a lot of home work ahead of the monday night football, reviewing all the weekend's matches. IMO he is excellent and i enjoying listening to his comments.

Nige, i take your point in general, but believe me I would be studying a few footie matches if I had a gig like that too, studying football as a job, dream material.

Yes his salary is more than likely very good, but he does such a better job than the previous individual did.

Watchit, every single pundit on tv is by nature pretty darn good at manipulation. It's how they get there. Most of them are pretty darn good at hiding their true emotions and as you say, know how to play the game.
In Neville's case, unlike a whole bunch of other nitwits, he actually does do his homework (dream job or not). A whole bunch of other nitwits don't even bother with it. I guess it's more of a relative comparison. |

Many moons ago when there was a thread about Neville being England's right-back I wrote the following words or something similar:
I hate Manure, I can't stand Mancs and I think that Neville is an evil little sh1t but I cannot think of a better right-back. I now have to say the same words followed by I cannot think of a better tv football analyser. Maybe one day I might even start to like the guy. |

Got to say,I feel dirty saying it, but yes, Neville is actually showing himself to be a very good pundit. If he's biased or not off camera I don't care, on camera he seems straight down the line, and if he think Man U have had a stroke of luck he says so. I'm very surprised, not someone I'd have given a chance for a minute to be honest.

I didn't like him when he started out on Sky but he's come good.
|

By:
Have to say I agree with all the above. He`s very very good, I particularly liked the comment about going to the circus you expect to see a clowns re Balotelli. Too many pundits dont want to say anything.

comparing him to that pretty boy Redknapp is like comparing Mother Theresa to King Herod

He's more Man Utd than most of their devoted fans and does well to keep his emotions under wraps. That said.... you could here the thrill in his voice when Arteta scored and the anguish when Vermaelen headed out Van Persie's certain goal.

This has the makings of thread of the year. ABUs complementing an ex red for his splendid unbiased football commentary etc. You are all correct, of course, the lad is leaps and bounds in front of any sky football pundit past & present(yes, including Andy gray). But to hear you all admit it, albeit with gritted teeth, is priceless.
If Sky have any sense they will already be discussing his next contract because they've unearthed a diamond |
