not watching the game so not seen young's apparent "dive", have to say he does have form for this sort of thing though,

I don't understand if it were so blatent why the FA don't hand out retrospective punishments for this kind of thing, at the very best it's gamesmanship and at worst it's just plain cheating,

the knock on effect is United probably pick up the points and QPR lose a player for the relegation battle which could end up costing them a place in the league.

hate how the FA jump upon any critisism of ref's too, if every now and again they came out after and game and held up their hands and said "this is what I saw at the time" and looking back maybe I was wrong, it wouldn't change results but I think people would have a hell of a lot more respect for them instead of them avoiding everything and the FA handing out fines like confetti...

the only official they didn't fully get behind was Sian Massey and she's the only one that's not made a complete balls up thus far!

Report mrfishfingers April 8, 2012 2:40 PM BST
Sorry Loaded but you sound like Alan Smith, effectively condoning cheating. If diving is seen as "clever" rather than wrong, then this sport is finished.

Firstly, perhaps you shouldn't call someone an idiot unless you're sure that you understand their point. Secondly, you really should have understood it, as I summarised it in my post.

My point was to offer an example of two incidents; both quite similar, one for Man Utd and one against. Only one was commented on, guess which?

imo, it's the same with big and small decisions. The people against Man Utd (as they were Liverpool in the 70's and 80's) will highlight the errors in their favour, but not against them. It's a psychological thing and people genuinely believe it, but in reality, it's far fetched and lacking evidence.

fish I don't condone cheating, I say why wouldn't he if he can get away with it.  Ref's fault and should have been yellow/red for Young, it's up to the lino and the ref.  I hate diving and cheating but I said the same thing when Perch fell over like a pansy, he might not get sent off if he didn't act.

My counter-argument, as I think Peeler's is, is that everything you say is irrelevant in light of the current scoreline.

Current score with refs help- 1-0.
Score without refs mistake 0-0.

Yes you can, mr fishfingers.

That's another relevant point, I remember seeing a game this season, or last, where Zat Knight should have been sent off at 0-0 at Old Trafford. Man Utd went onto to win the game.

To claim it'd definitely be 0-0 now is ludicrous, particularly the way the game was going.

And by the way - that, as a reply, suggests you're still missing my point.

Report loadedgimp April 8, 2012 3:17 PM BST
traded out of u3.5 at 1.04
fish it's only risky if you think about an individual bet.  if you think about the strike rate needed or percentage gained from each bet then with level stakes it is wholly possible.
people backed united at 1.2 to win - I laid u1.5 at 1.07 and backed 1.21 difference of 14% (7% equal green) I didn't trade all out but I won back 20% of my united lay.  If you do level stakes then build up a profit bank to play with it's the way to win here.
Report loadedgimp April 8, 2012 3:17 PM BST
I would have backed united 1.03 if I hadn't laid them already.
Report loadedgimp April 8, 2012 3:19 PM BST
and think of under/over 2.5 odds pre kick off, after 1st and 2nd goals.  can't see a way to profit backing over 2.5  before kick-off unless expecting a 7 goal game.

Talksport commentators really grate my gears. The way they went on, and are still going on about this game, you'd think United were going to win by 5 or 6 goals. It affects your judgement to hear all that crap. I was on unders and was needing a sedative after listening to these ballons going on about how many goals were going to be in this game. And look at the outcome!! Pretty much how I imagined it to be with me laying ten minutes before the end to avoid the usual last minute goal dash. Why does everybody get swept up in this. Manu are scraping results. Everybody knows that. They will probably scrape the title with Webb and company on the books. But what they aren't is Barcelona or UCD with big goal triumphs every week. I'm not listening to that muck anymore. I can make my own mind up ususlly before a game and by watching the match I can ususlly tell where its going. But with these knobs pecking your head by bigging up what is a cobbled together team, albeit a prem leading team because everybody else just happens to be worse this season, they are contributing to the myth. W***ers.
Utd have just managed to beat a relegation battling QPR who were reduced to 10 men by what was , apparently, I haven't seen it, a dodgy decision. This reduced QPR to 10 men who then proceeded to defend like tigers. But the Big Red is all you hear about as though they are the best.
What we now have in the Prem is a league of competitive teams. From top to bottom, there is competition. Except of course in the middle at the moment were there is a lot of holiday booking going on. But nevertheless, the top is not all that ahead of the bottom imho. I'm not convinced.
