Our best player by far, imo. Some think Luka, but I'd sooner be without Luka than Bale.

I thought Bale refused to play for England, pretty sure he'd stroll into the squad.  Against inferior opposition but played a great game today, they had up to 4 people ganging up on him with no success.  Has his off-days but who doesn't.

He needs to turn up more than once a month. Pretty sure he's welsh anyway.

the 1 good game in 5 is a total myth. Has been consistently good this season.
Report R0ykeane April 2, 2012 10:53 AM BST
Not a myth at all. Spurs got fancy syndrome. Mugs trying to turn him into a ronaldo. Just let him run. Nap.
Report Regular Fries April 2, 2012 11:00 AM BST
Yesterday's performance from Bale was par for the course this season. Don't get me wrong he's played worst than that on accassion and he's played better. I'm not comparing him to Ronaldo or saying he's world class, but the whole 'he only plays well one game in five' arguement is bollocks.
Report Biscuit1979 April 2, 2012 11:00 AM BST
Do you think in some strange way that writing 'nap' at the end of your post, makes your point any more valid?

Easily one of the premier league's best wide players and if he was put up for sale all the worlds top clubs would be after him, simple as that really.
Report R0ykeane April 2, 2012 11:03 AM BST
Rf point is the lad is 'world class' one in 5, which of course is an oxymoron....

Busicuits is just a moron.

I would say the 2 best Spurs players are Bale and Adebayor.  Went to the Chelsea v Spurs match and from what was a pretty awful game to watch, Bale was fairly quiet that game with not much to trouble us but so were at least 15 other players.  Bale's pace is unreal and I thought Barcelona even showed an interest in him?
Report Regular Fries April 2, 2012 11:05 AM BST
Okay, so you're retracting the '1 good game in 5' statement and changing to '1 world class game in 5'.

Roykeane can only admit greatness if he's mank.
Report Regular Fries April 2, 2012 11:08 AM BST
It's a case of when and not if he leaves Spurs LG, with La Liga the preferred destination for all parties I'd imagine.
Report R0ykeane April 2, 2012 11:09 AM BST
RF, the inference was clear. What I meant by good is obvious given opening post.

I don't think that has much to do with anything really. I could say the same about nani.
Report the dza April 2, 2012 4:24 PM BST
I think Bale will surpass Nani, he's 3 years younger and getting better and better.

He's already equalled Nani's best ever goal haul in a single league season (nine league goals). I don't think there's anything Nani can do that Bale can't, but there are very definite strengths that Bale has over Nani.

Put it this way, if the world's top clubs had a straight choice between the two players, most of them would go for Bale. That's not to say Nani isn't a good player, he is - but I think Bale is better and has the greater potential.

Many have boxed themselves into a corner over Bale -- adamant that he isn't really that good, in Phil Neville's pocket etc. His improvement this season has been quite big and it seems to me that he is turning into a really top player. By far the best player at Spurs.

I have no  reason to go against anything you've said but I don't see how that impacts anything I've said.

I was being mischievous earlier but its based on some truth...I'd be worried about paying the earth for him at this stage.

I actually agree with you in part, Roy -- I don't think he is quite 'World Class' yet, he is just a very good player who has the potential to be 'World Class'. Sadly, that potential will probably be fully realised away from Spurs, so I'll just enjoy watching out team while the main components are still there.

I think he'll be with us for 1 more season and if he improves further, he will probably become too good for us to keep hold of.

Not really, no.

Hardly surprising

You've got no sense of humour and a massive sense of your own self-importance.
