It's a poor United side. Even the rest of my family, which chose the darkside instead of the noisy neighbours, agree. They might cling on to the PL this year, I hope not, but it's not a good team in the scheme of things. Brushing aside the abysmal performances in Europe this season wont hide the fact even if they do scrape through in the League that it's under-performed. Ferguson has to take some responsibility for this, after all just because you're not the richest in Manchester anymore doesn't mean the pot is empty

but if we want to talk academies lets discuss that. Manchester United, being one of the richest clubs in the world, could afford an academy to attract the top youngsters to their club. That's what they did, and they also paid them more than anyone else.

liverpool,chelsea , arsenal , spurs have all spent big over the years but havent been able to sustain the consistency that fergie brings to man utd , also in man utd 20 years of success they have never spent as much money and brought in as many players as city over the last few years , remember the team that won him titles and european trophies in the first decade consisted of youngsters brought in from the youth team like giggs,scholes, butt with  a few experienced heads by their side ,

people dont understand the other aspects of ferguson which makes him an absolute genius...

coco, please go back over say the last 20 years and compare Manchester Uniteds spend to any other English club. That includes transfers and salaries. You will find it far exceeds the spending of any club in England. That's not to say Ferguson hasn't been a great manager. All that annoys me is now that City suddenly start spending (it could be argued to catch up with Uniteds spending of 20 years) they are achieving it with money. Of course they are, and so did United.
