To be fair that was one of his better interviews, took it well considering it's a bad result. I don't really get why when Mackie scored the winner he shunned Traore and celebrated with everyone else. Traore just walked off after. Confused

I'll tell you a little bit about Daglish's early managerial career. Back then we had a thing called the elusive double. He won it as player manager! The team he put together at the end of the eighties including Barnes and Beardsley was one of the best I've ever seen and I don't even support Liverpool. He went to Blackburn and won a title there too. So show some respect because he's done it as player and a manager and very few can say that!

Dalglish was a legend as a player.

Took it to a different level as a manager with both Liverpool & Blackburn.

The guy exudes class, both on and off the environs of the pressure cooker that is a football club.

Doubt he'll be losing any sleep from derogatory remarks from lollipops on here.

Graham vs Green

You are one delusional poster.

Daglish took nothing to another level as a manager, at Blackburn he never won the league title, he bought it.

He oozes no class, what kind of classy manager tells Wenger to piss off at the Emirates after Wenger said it wasn't a penalty, and let's not go into the Suarez thing.

Is completely and utterly clueless when it comes to the press/PR.

Out of his depth, out of touch, nearly out of time £100+ million and 7th is where he is.
Report Graham Vs Green March 22, 2012 1:44 AM GMT
Mesmeried, I'll bet you're a bitter, bitter Utd Fan.

He took Blackburn Rovers from the foot of 2nd division football to winning the premier league in 3 years.

Granted he spent a bit of money, but nowhere near what Baconface spent to be mid table after 4 years.

You sir, are the delusional one.
Report mesmerised March 22, 2012 1:49 AM GMT
Yes I'm a United, fan and I'll admit we're a diabolical team, happy?

Any manager with a lot of money in 1995 when the leagues was not as competitive as it is now could have done that, ask Celtic and Newcastle fans how good he really was.

I say what I see, Kenny and his terse retorts to the press, is classless - and a bit thick hth.
Report Graham Vs Green March 22, 2012 1:55 AM GMT
No one said Utd were/are a diabolical team.

Lord knows why you're going down that road.

You mentioned Dalglish being out of touch wit the Press/PR.  Not sure what that has to do with football management, but here's a Q.

How did you feel about Baconface refusing to speak to the BBC for over a decade and refusing to give an interview to MUTV for over 3 years?
Report mesmerised March 22, 2012 2:05 AM GMT
Mate listen, if united win this league title they'll be the most average team in prem history to win the it.

I hate my team, Fergie is past it, Rooney is a fat chain smoker who play well occasionally, us fans love our prawn sandwiches and prefer to rest out vocal chords during games and save them for ranting when we lose or draw or play badly or just feel like it, we play 2 pensioners in midfield, dragged one out of retirement, have the worst keeper in the prem, don't have the heart to tell Ferdinand he's not good enough any more, we can't beat a spanbish team 7th in their league, won only 2x champions league title in 26 years under ol' red nose, were lucky to win both, we're in a huge huge mess, being first is papering over the cracks.

We're diabolical really, only Daglish being the clown of a manager he is helps create a smokscreen for us.

his son was depicted to be a fraud and a crook, family loyalty.

MUTV is irrelevant as they are not main stream press - the main stream press is what you need to control, they have the power to unsettle the club via mischievousness reporting of facts bend slightly out of shape.

Fergie is over rated still, we're a myth of a great club, Europe is where it's at - never once dominated in any way, in any shape or in any form in the best part of three decades.

I hate my club, I;m thinking about supporting Arsenal, a club with dignity, a club with class, a club that spends within their means, a club that plays football the right way, they put both United and Liverpool to shame.
Report Graham Vs Green March 22, 2012 2:29 AM GMT
I doubt Arsenal could put Liverpool to shame.

Great club that The Gunners are, they've never achieved dominance domestically (Herbert Chapman aside) or on the European stage that Liverpool have.

Neither have pinched a knickname off a local rugby league club, as in "Les Diables Rouge".
Both play at stadiums where the highest attendance is for one of their matches.

Both don't have the misfortune to have their highest attendance whilst "lodging" at someone elses stadium.

Pretty sure that neither have had a testimonial for someone who scored the winning goal in a FA Cup final attracted a gate of

Kenny makes liverpool look classless with his approach to the media and the way he handles situations.

I find the whole Liverpool-United rivalry incredibly boring, it actually stems from a row of the use or restricted use of the canal that flowed into manchester from liverpool or summat.

Arsenal have never dominated, but the way they go about their business is something to behold - no washing of dirty linen in public, and as a business, sound as a pound, what were you thinking paying £35 mil for Caroll nd£20 mil for Henderson, I could go on.

nvm.
Report Graham Vs Green March 22, 2012 2:52 AM GMT
Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia.

The Liverpool/United rivalry has very little to do with trade through the canal.  When Salford Docks closed in the late 80's, they had an open invitation to go up to Birkenhead,

If it was so cut and dried, why doesn't it extend to Everton & City, who for long periods were both as successful as the red side?

The rivalry has evolved from Liverpool emerging as top dogs and Utd striving to overcome it.

Perhaps the roles are reversed now, but if you find Liverpool/United "boring" then take up knitting.

As rivalries go, it's as good as it gets.

The way Dalglish speaks to reporters is a disgrace, imo.

If he felt a particular interview had been out of order then fair enough, but he seems to start every interview the same way.

It's a shame, because I have quite a lot of time for the bloke, but his rudeness is uncalled for.

He really is quite an ogre isn't he!!! Read the transcript below and weep! He's a disgrace!!! Kenny Out!!!! etc!!! etc!!!

He told journalists at Melwood: "The performance the other night was excellent for 77 minutes and then we lost three goals, but we were delighted with the way they played.

"The disappointing thing about the result also was that Seb (Coates) scored a great goal that could win goal of the season, but it's not got a mention.

"We'll try to remain as positive as we can, but also realistic. We know we're capable of playing decent football, but we've got to finish it off."

He added: "They (the players) are as fit as anybody and probably fitter than most," said the boss. "We've had more success in cups than in the league, but the performances have probably been better in the league than they have in the cups.

"It was never going to be a 24-hour make up - it was going to be longer than that.

"We have made progression. The last bit is always the most difficult bit and that's where we're at - we're just trying to get the last bit correct."

Statistics show Liverpool have won the most number of corners in the Premier League this term and conceded the fewest.

Dalglish said: "And I don't think there is anybody who has hit the woodwork as often as us, and I don't think there is anyone who has missed as many penalties as us. The stats are there to be twisted and turned to suit your own argument.

"We know they (the stats) are there. We are realistic and we're honest in our appraisals. We'll just keep doing what we're doing and just hope we get the finishing touches to what we've done because the disappointment is for the players, not with them.

"We've got one bit to go and that's to put the finishing touches to the work they've done and the really good build up play."

With nine games remaining for Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League and an FA Cup semi-final against either Sunderland or Everton to play, reporters asked Dalglish whether now was an opportunity to blood some of the Reds' younger players in the league to give them senior experience.

The manager replied: "If you assume fourth place has gone, it would be, yes - but we haven't. We'll just keep going, keep playing every game and try to get as much as we can from every one.

"If we have to play kids then we'll play the kids, it's not a problem."

Liverpool will be seeking an instant return to winning ways against a Wigan side who are currently 19th in the table.

Dalglish, however, knows the Latics will provide a tough test for his players, though he is eager for the Reds to give the home fans something to shout about.

"It's a difficult game. They've been unlucky - they played well at Norwich and last week against West Brom," he said.

"They are in a wee bit of a pressure situation, but so are we. We've got our pride and we've got the punters we're going to play in front of to please.

"They're going to have a bit of the ball because that's the type of team they are. We can't get frustrated or agitated when they're passing it about and as long as they're not getting through us, we'll be doing our job properly.

"When we get it, we'll want to be aggressive, positive and score a few goals."
