as a supporter of football as opposed to a supporter of a team, i have an opinion for what it is worth.
in reality a football team is just like any other business, in the fact in simplistic terms they have income and expenditure, and a balance sheet. all businesses require cashflow, and the ability to make profit for them to survive.
businesses go bust every day of the week, the insolvency service has never been as busy, and the unfortunate situation that rangers, and several other clubs find themselves in is quite common, expenditure too high against the income. this is not rocket science.
it was apparent that the recession would eventually catch up with the higher spending businesses, which up until now have remained under the radar. if they or any other business cannot pay the bills, and if somebody wont buy it, it will disappear.
