That was quite an enjoyable read
kudos for even bothering to write it, you clearly have alot of time and thoughts to spare... i think it covers a fair few punters on here quite well too. good night thanks for the bed time story ![]() |

hehe thanks dime. I was just waiting for the cricket to start and I nearly slipped into the road to perdition to kill the boredom whilst waiting for the cricket. Instead I managed to dissuade myself by writing a novel instead which served as a good reminder to me not to bet on something I haven't got the foggiest idea about

LOL
i remember about a year ago it was around 5-6am and i spent all the night betting on southamerican matches, but i wasn't tired and was looking for a match to see; i found one in japan in j-league 2. i did some quick research and then placed my bets, opened a stream and followed the game, that endend 0-0; the funny part of the story is that after the match ended i opened the livescore in order to see what happened in the others j-league2 matches, and surprisingly i noticed that the match i was following ended 1-0 ![]() . after a couple of minutes i realized i followed the wrong game ![]() .what i learned about this? i must learn japanese, because team's names on the tv screen was written in japanese. ![]() ![]() |

Haha good post. That is definitely the guy who said Cambodia under 21s were a cert. Have to say I have spent 10 minutes watching a game desperately trying to work out which colour my team is playing in only to find out when a goal has gone in.
Also had to laugh cos EVERY match thread has someone saying "There's goals in this" followed by someone else saying "0-0 nailed on" . However impossible it seems they both manage to "green out". |

Possibly the best OP I've read. I think I've lost a few quid myself on FC Dogsbollox.

Great post, reminds me of a time i had a bet on the Ecuadorian league and some no hopers won away to LDU.

It would be funny if it wasn't so painfully true. I'm speaking as a man who whilst on an idyllic family holiday in rural India, stayed up till stupid o clock betting on a Turkish Micky Mouse Cup game, cursing the Indian phone networks for their crap reception and just needing one goal from Shyteanspor so I could go to sleep.
No more. |

Fantastic post, reminds me of questioning wtf Im doing following some sh*te game at 1am in the morning, barely awake, waiting for one goal to not lose my bank.

hi there
a good read, well done. this is why i look at this game as another job, i do my work, place the bets, get the points i want then go and live the rest of my life for that day, or evening. i think the another factor is that if you have had a good evening and in profit, you think you are invincible, so you search for the obscure match and loose it all, on top of that you are potentially tired, and potentially dont do as much research as you might usually do. i personally now work the peak evening hours, and hope by 10.30 uk time to be done and gone until the next day. but i do totally understand that it is a discipline thing. martin |

those bets that ruin an entire day in profit x)
great post ;) |

it all depends on ur edge. as long as u are aware of the risk of such obscure games it s easy to get value in these unknown games than the European major leagues
|
|
By:
Flamengo v Emelec looks like first up tonight. Hopefully there will be some informative posts in the thread to guide me towards an edge

hi there
if youve got the knowledge or an edge, then carry on, otherwise, wait till tomorrow, why write off any hard earned profit today when you have in excess of 60 in play games to look at tomorrow. and then youve got hundreds of games over the weekend, surely one obscure game isnt worth it. martin |

i think u lot are mugs if u are of the opinion that u have to bet on the european games only. it is not about the number of games to select from it is all about ur edge. if ur edge is valid only for european games then it s not advisable to bet on the late games. however if ur edge is valid for any game then bet on it. and after all the late night games especally if there are not many games have decent liqudity

care to expand on that further henok?
I assume you are referring to an edge based on a statistical analysis of matches across a broad number of events in a given league, for example? |
|
By:
if ths thread is aimed towards the recreational gamblers, it doesnt matter when they gamble, they enjoy and they lose end of story. if t is aimed at gamblers trying to maek money then, they have to bet as much as they can as long as they have an edge. whetehr late night or early morning. didnt get the whole poingt of ur lierature sorry.
|
|
By:
yes it was more a light-hearted look at a recreational gambler I suppose but can also be applied to the non-recreational as well. I wouldn't call myself a recreational gambler but I know for sure I am often tempted into "having a punt" shall we call it knowing very little, if not anything, about a specific event. These times are normally inbetween events when I have an interest in that I think I might have some idea of how I am going to bet or trade. What prompted me to write it the other night was because I so nearly got involved in a football match I can honestly say I didn't have the foggiest idea about and certainly didn't have an edge anywhere other than the potential edge I could have fallen off the sofa from

"having an edge" another gem of a phrase someone always comes out with . Usually it means they have looked at soccerway for a couple of minutes and have convinced themselves they know more and everyone else is a "mug".

Just reading this again, as it makes me laugh and cheers up my day. That last sentence tickles me.
![]() Ok plan B is needed. A quick loading up of livescore or futbol24 and you find a match is coming up. Oh good its FC Dogsbollox against FC Shoitepile. A quick scan of the Betfair markets and yes it's there. A quick look at the odds reveals Dogsbollox at 1.3 and Shoitepile at 10's. "This looks like a money spinner" goes through the mind "Dogsbollox must be like Barca" |
