You lost me at "use your brain"
By:
Trader, could you just repeat that one more time?
By:
trading with $500 to $1000 stake
I never risk more than 0.4% ?? |
By:
What is ur question EW7??
By:
so you must have a big bank then
By:
I have what for me is a pretty serious bank yes, but I think you didn't get it.
Not that $500 is 0.4% of my bank. What I meant is that I trade with $500 and sometimes $1000, depending on several factors, but if the trade goes against me, then I exit with a maximum lost between 0.2% and 0.4% of my stake. Have a look at the P&L I posted. |
By:
ahh ok , good job
allways in play or prematch too ? |
By:
Thanks EW,
Most are in play, 90% I would say. Then a few pre match. Here is the latest one, just finished: Soccer / Dinamo Zagreb v Istra : Over/Under 3.5 Goals 4.71 |

hi trader i was wondering were you had gone after not seeing your football laying thread in general betting for a while seem to be goin better with this now

By:
Trader, can you tell us a little bit about your rules of trading and what u do to follow the trend in the right direction. You just enter the market and trade out after a given time? Or do you watch the matches and trade thereafter?
By:
follow the overs train
By:
now what you need to do is write a program that will do this for you all day automatically...
By:
Hi smithy, nice to see you around. I did not give up the laying strategy, indeed it is still going VERY well. I only stopped posting the thread on general betting because it became pointless to be talking to myself on the thread, nobody was interested lately, even with the profits I was getting.
Bricks, I try to watch the games on TV if possible, this will help me decide if it is the right game and moment to do it or not. But actually I watch very few of the matches I trade, 1 in 5 I would say. I don't have a set amount of time for the trade, on average it takes 2:30 mins, the fastest being 10 secs and the slowest being 5 mins. I don't enter a trade and wait certain amount of time to get out, I get both of my bets matched and out. Only when I trade pre match I hope the market will go in the right direction, but when it is in play I know it will go the way I want, unless something happens, and then I will lose 0.2% to 0.4% of my stake. Godsend, That would be good, do not know how to do it and don't think it would work. There are factors that can't be handled by a software. All I need is time and better infraestructure to improve my winnings. |
By:
nice one trader not suprised you have kept the laying thread going incredible consistency. i am currently trading match odds pre off and also over/under 2.5 pre off but can see myself trying something like what you have shown in the near future. best of luck mate.

Similar to what I do . When you enter a trade then a goal is scored before you can exit what do you do?
By:
ok so how big does your bank need to be? how much can you make per day?
are you saying you take a loss straight away if the price moves against you? |

Soccer / Brazil v Bosnia : Over/Under 2.5 goals -195.35

can't be doing with trading - sounds no fun at all. enjoying what I do is essential for me. guaranteed profit has no appeal - I like the sense of danger of a gamble : that you could lose, damaging yourself in the process . Avoid that outcome and you are punching the air with joy and relief.
Overstaking is also to be recommended - for the same reason. |
By:
of course, one's attitude depends on what your here for.
i'm here strictly for fun - if this was my job caution would be my watchword too. |
By:
and that foot-long opening post looks like the antidote to fun
By:
ah so it's the emotional rollercoaster of outright match odds that fuels you munter? think im the same. £1 accas dont do it for me. i strive the win
although doesnt this leave us open to the evil chase bet? |
By:
Even though I can see the logic of being a trader, it's stuff like...
"Soccer / Southend v Crawley Town : Over/Under 2.5 goals 0.02" ...that means I'll never be able to be one. |
By:
agreed! ^^^ with both of you.

By:
guaranteed profit has no appeal

thats right Billy (I put that line in for someone to latch onto). I want to WIN it - not be handed it by virtue of my grindingly efficient trading system.
(traders and gamblers have so little in common we might as well be from different planets) |
By:
hi trader,
well done, how many points per trade do you go for ?? how often do you increase your stake level?? how long have you been doing this?? do you trade day ?? i know loads of questions, but i do something similar martin |
By:
yes, but they still gamble on a positive odds movement
By:
well the easiest odds movement to predict which always goes in the right direction is the overs and unders markets

Even though I can see the logic of being a trader, it's stuff like... "Soccer / Southend v Crawley Town : Over/Under 2.5 goals 0.02" ...that means I'll never be able to be one. Gamblers version would be: "Soccer / Southend v Crawley Town : Over/Under 2.5 goals -20.00" Oh well...where's that deposit button ![]() |
By:
not if there's a goal GODSEND. a gamble
By:
yes but usually a trader will know what price the odds will become in that event and it is still expected.
By:
IE under 6.5 in tottenham game most money traded at 1.1 now it is 1.18 to lay - only 8 ticks different when you could have potentially nicked 1 or waited for up to 10. It's all about practice experience and patience. Hard for most.
By:
loaded I deposit so often there must be a visible groove in the internet between my bank and here! but thats ok - I'm not here to win money. I'm here for fun with occasional 'profit' as a bonus.
By:
ok I assume you use the term profit very loosely. I think most people bet for fun which is why most usually back overs. Unders is far easier to profit on but you won't celebrate a goal...
By:
(well, I am of course here to win money - but if I can't turn it into an adrenaline-filled emotional rollercoaster which will alternately have me punching the air and feeling like a king or on my knee's begging forgiveness from my God then I don't want it!)
By:
thats right loaded - betting unders is a smart play - just no fun.
actually I never bet overs either : my tipple is CS betting. Humungous odds! |
By:
and very hard to land, I might add

Soccer / Brazil v Bosnia : Over/Under 2.5 goals -195.35 You need to look at the bigger picture, Bob. Soccer / Brazil v Bosnia : Over/Under 3.5 Goals 9.85 Soccer / Brazil v Bosnia : Over/Under 4.5 Goals 4.53 Soccer / Brazil v Bosnia : Over/Under 5.5 Goals 4.66 Soccer / Brazil v Bosnia : Match Odds 250.56 Soccer / Brazil v Bosnia : Over/Under 2.5 goals -195.35 Jinkie Even though I can see the logic of being a trader, it's stuff like... "Soccer / Southend v Crawley Town : Over/Under 2.5 goals 0.02" Jinkie, yes, part of being a trader. +0.02 is better than -500, isn't?? martin19842 well done, how many points per trade do you go for ?? Usually 1. Rarely 2. how often do you increase your stake level?? Never. how long have you been doing this?? This kind of trading for 1 month, increased my bank in 8% On betfair for about 5 years, sadly in the minus side, but obviously working on it. do you trade day ?? What do you mean? Not going to quote loadedgimp, but several wise words there. desperatemunter, Fair enough, due respect to your way of gambling, but yes, we are probably from different planets. I don't do this for fun, it is not fun indeed. I do it to make money, and trading is safer than gambling. Give me that safety net, I take it. Look what I did in the England v Netherlands match, traded the over 4.5 and didn't think about that madness in the last 5 minutes, so what I did was to put all the profits in the under 4.5 and zero on the over. You know the rest. Didn't make any money, but at least didn't lose a chunk like many did during the craziness. |
