Shay Given is probably the only player who'd get anywhere near IMO.

i would have dunne instead of cahill/smalling never has a bad international game. given maybe 2nd choice, robbie keane would get a game with rooney i think. other than that maybe megeady as back up for left wing. downing is ****.

Robbie Keane, he scores goals. I would struggle to name 4 english strikers you would have instead.

Given as keeper or back up. Dunne as a starter, O'Shea as a centre half, left fullm right full back up. McGeady is better than Downing. Keane would start with Keane. So five player max,

Mc geady, given as back up, at international level, St ledger is very reliable although doesnt play for a big club!!

one player that england keep overlooking which is absolutely ridiculous is gary hooper!!   people might say he plays in the spl etc. (i might be a wee bit bias being a celtic fan)       but to be fair, english fans have their head up their hole in reference to the premiership.
The majority of players who cut it in the EPL are not english!!

hooper scores alot for celtic but im not convinced he cud do it at a higher level

hes a goal scorer, he would score goals for any team in any league, there would have been no harm calling him up last week, england have no decent striking options other than rooney imo #hooperandholtforengland

why'd u start this petty thread anyway?

obviously England have the better players in almost all positions but they may not go much farther in the Euros than the irish

More relevant would be "how many English players would bet into the Ireland team".  Seeing as Ireland have the better side and are more likely to progress this summer than England.

freddiek, because of the amount of Irish coming out from under their rocks since they've qualified.

You don't have a single player England would want and you'll get an absolute pasting in all three of your group games.

I can't wait.

there are normally a few englishmen in the irish team

I'm gleeful await it.

Yet another example of how you Irish care more about the English (you support our teams after all) than your own nation.

One day you'll be proud to be Irish rather than closet Englishmen.

These Englanders are getting brave now that they dodged us in the draw, tut tut why are we so unlucky that we couldn't draw England.

IVV, english teams are popular in ireland cos there is no professional soccer in the country. The league is for part-time teams

When was the last time England beat Ireland in a senior international football match ?

Not in my lifetime anyways ...... they may have better players all over the park but Ireland have a better team and a great coach.

I'm not a big fan of McGeady, he's frustrating at times and hasn't played up to potential.

He is however a technically superb footballer who has thrived in a tough Russian league - so, not for the first time, onthesnaff is proudly flagging up his ignorance like a beacon ....

England's population is more than ten times that of Ireland's. Football is third in the pecking order of sports in Ireland. Ireland has no professional league and no proper coaching or grassroots facilities. Yet the premier league and football league is littered with Irish footballers and managers and, just like England, Ireland will be at the euros this year. Only differrence being we'll go have a party with fans from every other country, cheer on our team and country with pride and passion....While the English will go and act like they own the place, tell all how brilliant their team is, start a few fights, wreck a town square, before singling out some poor fecker to blame for yet another comical failure...often choosing those least deserving of their pathetic bile...Rooney, Beckham, Bobby Robson etc.

So in answer to the question...Feck off!
