Owen Oyston, plumbing new depths of despicability:

Whilst at a glance it obviously seems like a ridiculous sum it's worth looking at the other side of the story.

Read some of these quotes:

"Owen Oyston saved our club many years ago and used his own money to bank roll the club for more than 20 years ! He deserves every bloody penny of the 11 million for me if this is a one off payment. Thank you O.I.Oyston"

"I'm not trying to defend Owen for such a huge payday but, if my memory serves me well he has been at the club for an eternity,, now with money he has invested over all them years of Blackpool being in nowhere land, I would be interested to know what his input has been over the time he's been at Blackpool against his remuneration. I would imagine he's put more in than he's taken out"

is more of the story and pours water on the "thank you mr oyston" bullsh!t.

Could that £11 million have provided the 2 points they needed to stay up? Almost certainly yes.

Same thing as Bradford City under Richmond: the first year they were in the Premier League Richmond and Rhodes paid themselves a divi of £2.3 million, which as a proportion of PL money is equlivilent to Oyston's payment. Bradford fans are still divided over whether BFG deserved it for getting them up with his own money or ripped the club off. More joined the latter camp when they went into admin, even more the second time they did.
OI Oyston, what a horse he was!
