I can explain my method which has been foolproof so far.
For a bank of £500
1% = £5 = Risky bet's that you are not sure, this includes most odds of 2 and up or laying below 2 2% = £10 = Bets you are quite confident in, usually around 1.4-2.0 so either favourites that you think are priced too highly, value in goal markets etc... 5% = £25 = Bets that you have high confidence in, usually below 1.4 such as teams already leading that you thought would win or another goal/less than 3 more goals 10% = £50 = should be for a bet you feel is nailed on (1.2 max) and even if you are wrong you can trade out as odds won't go too far against you if you wish to trade out. 20% = £100 = should be below 1.1 and be a heavy favourite, dead cert - rarely use this as a 20% hit is very bad - and if say you picked less than 5 goals from the current score and a goal comes, you should be able to wait for a 2nd goal before deciding to red out.
That's what I do. The odds are only a guide, obviously 20% is not recommended to go above 1.15 but 1/2/5% have more leeway. Hope it helps.

£50 level stakes, low odds, increase to £100 level stakes once you get to £1000. Gotta be bold, otherwise you'll still be fannying around winning pennies in a years time

Haha my method seems a bit more complicated than others, but I can't imagine I would only bet on low odds and be using the same stake regardless of risk or confidence. Good luck whatever you do.

Loadedgimp, I might add, when i say 'low odds', I mean 1.7 - 2.2, not 1.1, personally I cant be doing with anything that low unless I've had too much to drink and want a betting buzz

and always remember: if a bet/trade turns against you - red out. don't hope for that one goal that might eventually come and put you on the winning side again. take it up the chin and red out to fight another day.
patience is the key.
buzzer and loadedgimp got it pretty accurate. and always remember: if a bet/trade turns against you - red out. don't hope for that one goal that might eventually come and put you on the winning side again. take it up the chin and red out to fight ano
yeah I don't think £50 bet's is a good idea, if he loses two in a row he will be down 20% and be affected mentally. If he bets with a fiver each team and wins then he can up stakes, this is only if he wants to keep his bank. He can all in and go the same way as 99% of punters if he likes.

All opinions people, pakz I think you're trippin, long term redding or greening out makes absolutely no difference (apart from wasting your time, and as we all know, time is money)..loadedgimp, you win so little betting 1% of your bank that you always wish you'd staked a proper amount..with a bank of £500, I'd be on £25 a bet at an absolute minimum, and if I'm not sure, I just don't bet...Taking on fewer bets is probably a good idea for most people anyway

if you green out as often as you red out, you might be right. i never said you should green out as soon as possible, though.
i guess it's pretty safe to say, that one of the most common mistakes made is that people tend to green out too early, while letting their losing bets run untill the end - in the hope that the tides will turn in their favor again.
if you set up a predetermined exit point, at which you leave a trade if it's not working out, you heavily lower your overall red. this does - of course - not neglect the need to choose the proper picks for your strategies.
