Abramovich is a spoilt brat who shouldn't have sacked Ancelloti, nor undermine him previously by sacking Wilkins. How do you sack a manager who won the double the previous season ffs?!

The football under Mourhino in the last 10 or 20 games was absolutely dire entertainment.  The guy can certainly win a match, he will be an amazing International Manager, but I for one wouldn't want him back at the Bridge.
He also signed a few poor players and couldn't get a tune out of Scott Parker

AVB has got to go, it was a brave experiment but I agree with an earlier poster, winning in Portugal is hardly world beating stuff.

No manager will have a chance at chelsea while the likes of Terry are ruling the dressing room, Get rid of the cancer and you will get a step closer to getting back been successful, How many managers is it now they have gone thru? Not going to get anywhere sacking managers every few months

Just an example of a great player who went on to better things.  Makelele I was a season ticket holder in that era, he had the easiest job in the team

I used to watch him and think I could do that...break up play and pass it five yards then rest until your team lost the ball....but the genius of it was his positional play which gave him the edge on me.

Zizou famously referred to him as the engine.

Mikel does a good job of replacing him in the resting part.

Amazing to think two world class managers in Jose and Fergie were so excited about him. Something gone badly wrong there.

Mikel was adjudged the second most valuable player in the world after Messi in 2005. Being rated almost at par with the Argentine star after the junior World Cup was no mean feat and it wasn’t long after the championships that top European clubsides fell over themselves to have the prodigiously talented Nigerian in their fold. Even the mercurial Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, did not enjoy such luxury while featuring for a Flying Eagles side which crashed out at the 1993 Africa Youth Championship in Mauritius, thereby failing to feature in the WYC later that year. Mikel’s rating shot up to the high heavens and he became a commodity too hot to handle by Lyn Oslo. After much publicised and protracted  transfer tussle between English top sides, Chelsea and Manchester United in 2006, Mikel eventually landed at Stamford Bridge, in a 16million pounds move and in the process became Nigeria’s most prized player of his generation till date.

Moving to the top flight in Europe, expectations amongst Nigerians that Mikel would blossom to take the baton from Okocha was firmly established and he did lend credence to those growing sentiments with a solid outing for the Super Eagles at the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt. And as Okocha was making his last outing for Nigeria at the tournament, Nigerian fans were all the more excited to witness the transition between old and the new. His performance won him the African Young Player of the Year for the second time running (2005 and 2006) to further boost fans expectations of greater things to come.
However, five years down the road, Mikel has consistently left Nigerians (and the world) wondering if their expectations regarding him have not been misplaced…

SWITCHING ROLES
Mikel’s arrival in Chelsea coincided with the period the Blues were enjoying a fairy-tale run in the English Premier League under the ever controversial Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho. The ‘Special One’, intending to take full advantage of Mikel’s versatility, great technique and physique, deployed the player to play more in front of the back four rather than behind the strikers. In plain language, Mourinho transformed Mikel from an attacking midfielder (playing from 10) to a defensive midfielder (playing from 4). That, most observers believe, was the beginning of Mikel’s travails.

He got plenty out of robben apart from his injury problems. Robben has never fufilled his potential. He joined at a similar time to ronaldo, and looked the better prospect. He's just one of those that mentally will never fufil his potential..just show his class in spurts.

As I've said Fergie was also sniffing around mikel so there must have been something there.

Thats the point, Roman is part of the problem, he needs a manager who can just get one with it.  Cappello is proven and wouldn't take no sh1t from the prima donna's.  Gets on well with Terry so thats half the battle.
