Its not his talent thats in question, its attitude and desire
Sir Alex gave up on him, if he was 'that' good Fergie would have found a way to turn him around.
Footy history is littered with brilliant kids who dont make it because they throw their careers away before they really begin.
If his attitude doesnt change, then the talent wont matter.
Report squigs February 16, 2012 11:19 PM GMT
Honestly Fergie tried everything, I think after the conviction he was in last chance saloon, he was then nicked on assaulting his bird but she didn't press charges. This at a time when he was on probation. He is an idiot. The trouble followed him for years, when he was no more then 15-16 he was stopped in a car with two guns found in it. The M.E.N have had a Morrisson story for a year or so but have been warned by the legal eagles that they can't publish it. It's unlikely to be a good news story.

The lad has shown glimpses of his ability for years, while youth football is more available on TV compared to other generations he was head and shoulders above others at youth level. Magnificent dribbling and balance, two good feet and he seemed a step ahead of everyone. If he got his head together the sky is the limit West Ham and England could have a world class talent on their hands but that looks odds against at this point.

Online article from Andy Gray below, note the bit about the buy black clause, if he loses some of his attitude then every chance Utd will take him back at some stage

I don’t know Ravel Morrison personally but I have read enough about him to know that he needs to sort himself out if he's going to make a success of his career.

I think Sir Alex Ferguson was right when he said that he is better off out of Manchester but the difficulty is you can take the boy out of Manchester but can you take Manchester out of the boy?

That will be his biggest problem but he has a good manager with him in Sam Allardyce and I think it is no surprise that he has ended up at West Ham.

Sir Alex and Sam are best mates and they have known each other for a long time so Sir Alex would have put him in a club where he knows he will get discipline and Big Sam will definitely give him that.

But ultimately it is up to the kid now and we will wait and see what Ravel decides to do.

From what I have heard he has immense talent for a young lad and if he wants to be a player then he will be a player and a good one at that.

But if he lets outside forces affect him then he might not be, but he won’t be the first talented youngster to fall by the wayside.

But Big Sam will be in his ear and telling him to knuckle down because if he wants to have a great career then he can have one because he has the skills.

But he cant have a great career and continue to be doing what he is doing as they just don’t go hand in hand.

I hope he can get his act together as there are too few youngsters with the talent that Ravel has but I think West Ham will help him develop as a player and as a man.

But Fergie isn’t stupid and he has included a clause in the contract that says if he is good enough then Manchester United have first option to buy him back so we will wait and see what happens.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about so i don't know why you're trying to argue the point.

But i'm in a good mood today so i'll help you out, here's what actually happened:

'The biggest one was the toilet seat,' he says. 'I was with a mate (Ben May ex-Millwall) who was doing up his bathroom and he wanted to buy a set where you get everything together. I'd never bought a bathroom like that in my life, and neither had he, so we banged it on the trolley. But we took out the toilet seat and got another one that had a slow-close lid so it wouldn't trap his kid's fingers.

What we didn't know was that it was £2.35 more than the one that should have been in the box. Then we went through the till, my mate paid for it and then this security guy stopped us and said he had been watching us on CCTV and seen us swapping the toilet seats.

'We just burst out laughing, thinking where's Jeremy Beadle. But he said, "No, this is serious, the police are on their way". We just looked at each other as if to say, "Are you winding us up?". But the police turn up. We're crying our eyes out laughing. The police are laughing. I said to the security guy, "Look mate, can we pay the £2.35?". He said, "No, this is a serious offence, blah, blah blah".

'So the police give us two options -either go to court and fight it out or pay the 70 quid on-the-spot fine. We couldn't be bothered going to court so we paid the fine but, doing that, it obviously made us look guilty and the next day it's everywhere that we've been caught shoplifting. But what sort of thief walks through the till and pays for his stuff? If I'm a thief I'm strapping it to my back and bolting it!'

So if you want to compare that laughable incident to young Ravel's catalogue of problems then good luck to you.

Ravel Morrison played his first game in claret and blue as he captained the West Ham United Development Squad to a 2-1 behind-closed-doors friendly win against Queens Park Rangers.

The deadline-day signing formed part of a strong starting XI for the Hammers that also included Guy Demel, George John, Gary O'Neil, Frederic Piquionne and Sam Baldock at Chadwell Heath on Friday.

Indeed, it was the experienced front two of Baldock and Piquionne who combined to give the home side the lead in the sixth minute. Baldock broke down the left and delivered a pinpoint cross for his strike partner head home firmly from six yards out.

Ian Hendon's side went on to have much the better of the first half but QPR fought back after the break and levelled the game with a stunning equaliser just past the hour mark. The Hammers sealed the win with four minutes to go, however, when a direct free-kick flew in from the edge of the area.

Morrison saw plenty of the ball in a central midfield role and he twice worked the visiting keeper with powerful drives from the edge of the area. Playing No7, the nineteen-year-old showed some neat touches and very nearly added a third goal at the death with a delicate chip that had to be turned over the bar.

Ravel Morrison

Ravel Morrison wore the captain's armband on his Hammers bow

Frank Nouble, playing in a wide midfield role, was also a constant thorn in the side of the Hoops' defence and came close to scoring on several occasions, most notably with a deflected effort that looped on to the bar with eight minutes to go.

At the other end, John looked solid throughout and behind him Marek Stech made three impressive saves, two of which came with a QPR player through one-on-one.

O'Neil partnered Morrison in central midfield before a planned half-time withdrawal for youngster Pelly Ruddock, while Demel showed plenty of promise going forward before being withdrawn in the 71st minute for Josh Siafa.

Fellow substitute Sebastian Lletget perhaps should have done better with a header when well placed. The closing stages of the match also saw youngsters Brian Montenegro and Taylor Miles enter the fray as the Hammers finished with a youthful side.

Hendon would have been delighted with the effort of his side during the win, with several first-team players getting valuable match time ahead of Tuesday's npower Championship trip to Blackpool.

Morrison's upbringing meant he was exposed to the worst of influences from the start. Look at his list of convictions and those are things he was caught for. He coupled that with a bad attitude not turning up for training etc.

He needed to break the links with gangs moving to London gave him that chance.

The bad influences Morrison mixed with were in another stratosphere to the bad influences Gazza experienced.

West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison has been remanded in custody after appearing in court accused of punching and slapping his ex-girlfriend and her mother.

Morrison, 21, charged with two counts of common assault, closed his eyes and puffed his cheeks out after being refused bail at Manchester Magistrates' Court today.

Morrison, who spoke only to confirm his name and age, is alleged to have assaulted ex-girlfriend Reah Mansoor, 19, and her mother Parveen Mansoor, 39, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was arrested on Wednesday and appeared in court on Thursday.

District Judge James Prowse refused a bail application made by Morrison's solicitor Ros Emsley-Smith.

The defendant, who did not enter a plea, was remanded into custody until August 7.

Reporting restrictions were not lifted.

The former Manchester United player is alleged to have assaulted his ex outside a bar in Manchester city centre.

A further assault on her and on her mother is alleged to have taken place a short time later at her mother's house on Alexandra Road in the Peel Green area of Salford.

Wearing a white t-shirt and white jogging bottoms, Morrison, whose address in court was given as Welwyn Close, Urmston, Manchester, but who also rents an apartment at Canary Wharf in London, sat in the dock listening during the hour-long hearing.

He was later handcuffed and taken back to the cells as bail was refused.

District Judge Prowse told him: "You are remanded in custody to appear back before this court by video-link from prison one week from today on August 7."

Despite being touted as a bright prospect at Old Trafford, Morrison only appeared in the League Cup before former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sold him to West Ham for £650,000 in January 2012.

West ham manager Sam Allardyce took him to Upton Park but he was soon shipped out to Birmingham on loan, a move that the 59-year-old felt helped Morrison develop his attitude.

Upon his return to Upton Park, Morrison established himself in the West Ham first team and was one of their better performers in the early stages of last season.

He scored a memorable goal in a 3-0 win at Tottenham which was voted as goal of the season by Hammers' fans before a groin injury and a drop in form saw him lose his place in Allardyce's side.

Morrison picked up the first of his four England Under-21 caps in a 4-0 win over San Marino in October and was subject to a bid from Fulham in January - although the offer was rejected.

Instead he was moved on to QPR on a loan deal until the end of the season as he helped Rangers to gain promotion from the Championship before returning to West Ham.

Morrison did not travel with the squad on their recent pre-season tour of New Zealand as he underwent surgery on his groin problem, training alone at the St George's Park national training base in Staffordshire.

His long-term future at West Ham has again been questioned after the club's co-chairman David Sullivan suggested Allardyce was not keen on keeping Morrison in his squad - even though the board wanted to offer the midfielder a new deal.

But Allardyce backed Morrison, if he can prove he wants to make it at the club.

"We thought we'd brought Ravel to the forefront of his abilities this time last year," Allardyce told talkSPORT.

"He had a fantastic pre-season and he started the season exceptionally well. I think that drifted away somewhat and he ended up with QPR on loan and ended up helping get them promoted."

Well, given that the charge is assaulting two women that he knows well and could revisit, custody seems about right to me.

They didn't need to keep him at our expense. The Judge should have just sent him down to the cells in the custody of Bubba for an hour. I suspect the likelihood of seeing him back in court would have been reduced somewhat.

why, he is a danger to the public.

The problem is we are so used to light sentences that we expect everyone but murders to have bail.

For the first time today i felt it was a perfect example on how justice should work.

Classy chap.

West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison threatened to throw acid in the face of his ex-girlfriend and have her killed, a court heard on Thursday.

The 21-year-old is also accused of threatening to blow up her house in a course of harassment against his ex-girlfriend Reah Mansoor lasting four years, Manchester Magistrates' Court heard.

The former Manchester United player was initially arrested and charged with two counts of common assault after allegedly punching and slapping Miss Mansoor, 19, and her mother Parveen Mansoor, 39, in the early hours of July 27 in Salford.

Morrison, who spoke only to confirm his name, age and address, sat in the dock at the court for the brief hearing as the harassment allegation was also added to the charges.

The court heard the additional charge of causing his ex-girlfriend to fear violence would be used against her spanned the period from January 1, 2010 to July 20 this year. The charge alleges he threatened to throw acid in her face, blow up her house and have her killed and other threats of violence.

David Fish QC, representing Morrison, indicated the defendant would be pleading not guilty to the charges.

District Judge Khalid Qureshi bailed Morrison to appear at Manchester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on August 28.

Morrison, originally from Manchester, was initially remanded in custody last week before being bailed.

His bail conditions are that he lives in Canary Wharf, London, does not contact directly or indirectly the two women complainants, does not go on to the street where they live, and does not enter the Greater Manchester area except for a court appearance, to see his lawyers or to visit for a West Ham game in the area and to return to London immediately after the match.

Despite being touted as a bright prospect at Old Trafford, Morrison appeared only in the League Cup before former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sold him to West Ham for £650,000 in January 2012.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce took him to Upton Park but he was later shipped out on loan to Birmingham and QPR.

Morrison picked up the first of his four England Under-21 caps in a 4-0 win over San Marino in October and was subject to a bid from Fulham in January - although the offer was rejected
