we (united) are poor this season. not got a quality squad at all.
liverpool are also struggling. they made some bad buys, and their best player is suspended.
gerrard is still regaining match fitness and wont be back to his very best for a couple of more weeks (though he will certainly bust a gut versus united)
i think carrol has been unlucky and wouldnt be surprised if he hit a run of goals soon.
basically, the match between united and liverpool could go either way and is really tough to call. both teams can put in great performances and equally both teams can be dismal (as see recently in both cases)
obviously the deluded on both sides will big their teams up, but this is definetely one for inplay only.

getting beat by barcelona is no disgrace.

yes, they could easily beat united. like i said every result is possible in this game.
better analysis of the match could be the way for some people to go (if they can stop themselves making daft comments)

sorry mate, but someone who says that getting beat in a champions league final by one of the best teams ever makes man united "a disgrace to english football" is not worth listening to.
united are crap at the moment, and are struggling to grind out results. its a miracle we are where we are in the league.
you could do with a less blinkered view of your own team (unless your aim is just to have continuous playground banter with other deluded fans from other teams, if so then im not interested and will leave you to it)

Two games are 50/50 imo. Best wait for lineups if having a bet. Pool sh1t against the lower teams but play well against the top teams but can't score many. Could be a red card card in the Pool / United match.

Fallenangel - thought Lucas was the best player for Pool till he got injured. With Vidic out for United the 2 teams are missing the best(or second best) player. City are are missing Yaya big time and now the nut that is Mario will be getting a little holiday.Great player tho.

this fixture is never about current form, or recent history, its all about who on the day applies themselves the better, takes what they can fron the chances they get, and take advantage of any luck or good fortune that may come thier way

also the officials could have the final say

as for united and the cl, they have in terms of winning it a very poor ecord compared to attempts, and this seasons campaign was embarasing considering the group they were in

however reach three finals in the recent past is a good effort, despite not perfroming anywhere near their best in the last two

agreed, he was having a great season till his injury.

I dont think uniteds record is that bad. they were never going to beat barca in either final, so getting to the final in those two years was as good as it was going to get. they could have got to another 2 finals in the last ten years and i would have expected they would have won one of them. so, yes, a bit below what they should have  done, but not too bad all the same. as for this year, we got what we deserved. the team wasnt capable of doing well in the competition and it is a blessing that we didnt get through. if we had qualified and met barca, rmadrid or bayern munich it would have been a cricket score.

I agree. we were totally outplayed. Will happen to us again this season at least once if not more (and against lesser teams).
As for barca being beatable, yes they are beatable, but unfortunately not by us. we dont have the players and the manager doesnt have the tactics.

I was meaning in terms of playing consecutively in 20+ seasons, given the size and stature of the club, plus its rescources, two wins is not  a great return, especially given that all other clubs in tyhe competition will have changed their managers at least twice in that timespan, so continuity and squad building should have resulted in more wins imo

as for losing to barca, no reral shame as any opposition would be second favs, although dissapointing  the manner of defeat

2 times in 20 years. that does look bad when you put it like that. the worse bit is that in those 20 years we had a really good squad three times so should have picked up a couple more wins.
i cant see us realistically competing for the trophy again for a few years. the best we can hope for over the next few years is to get to the QF's.
as to the disappointing way united played in the recent final, it was split loyalties for me. we lost but i made a bundle.

you might be surprised, but quite a few of the more realistic united fans are troubled by some of fergie's decisions. trouble is, who would we bring in, especially nowadays when any new manager has got to be an instant success.
by the way that new lad you have (spearing). looks quite a prospect. whats the lfc fans view of him, the real deal or not.

my opinio is he will do exactly as the manager asks, always wants the ball. always willing to chase and tackle, probably got a little more to come, but inevitablt cant produce the thing that takes players that extra step/level

Seriously though that is a good post.

The united team which one the league last year was certainly not as good as previous sides. However one thing utd have is belief instilled in them by fergie which we and a lot of the so called top sides don't.
